It’s the Mirror’s Edge paradox. Mirror’s Edge is the best parkour simulator ever made, but most people don’t want to play a parkour simulator, they want to fly through environments really fast and just do the thing. Assassins’ Creed fills that slot. The rest of us may prefer Mirror’s Edge, but it’s a niche game.

You just used a single sentence to describe a game as both too banal to have relevance and too far over your head to understand. So I’m going to say... probably not the only one but probably the only one willing to tell on themselves like that.

Morrowind gave you the power to fly fairly early on way back in 2002.

I get it, but what you see as random mark-ups is the whole point of the system. It’s a handheld you can plug into your TV, not a home console you can take with you on a trip.

Wind Waker’s plot was pretty great. Then I had to go back and play Ocarina of Time and wow... what a letdown.

He did say he deserves to be president because he’s really good at making money and he has a lot of followers.

On the one hand, he is giving out free stuff.

The Nintendo to Famitsu pipeline can’t be stopped!

The WiiU had the exact same decline curve of every other Nintendo home console up to that point. It wasn’t the exception, it was the rule.

Several Zelda games released in the meantime between those cross-platform releases. And those cross-platform releases were 11 years apart.

This is all just AI, isn’t it? This has to be AI. There’s no way Nintendo’s legal team is this consistently stupid unless they hired an intern to input a set of data and push a button and let ‘er rip.

Yeah... I get the feeling there are a lot of very young people in this comment section who don’t know how Nintendo works.

It’s not really frontier justice to murder 8 innocent people to punish one random dude.

But it involves an SUV. So still on brand.

The Uvalde shooter was a Latino white supremacist. I think Americans are getting a class in how categories of whiteness don’t necessarily mean the same thing in every country.

I kind of got tired of all the needle drops in the film. Some were truly impressive (like Creep in the opening — flawless, no notes), but he had a really annoying tendency to patch over awkward writing with a song just telling you how you’re supposed to feel.

Spider-Man No Way Home made almost 2 billion dollars in the middle of the pandemic. I don’t think this will dramatically change peoples’ minds.

I think the movies that break the trend are unique events. Sam Raimi of the 1.5+ billion dollar Spider-Man movies (in 2023 dollars), a sequel specifically to those same movies, and now a sequel to a franchise whose audience has always been pretty static and pre-built. They know who they are, they know what they want,

GoG3 should be expected to do about the same box office as the other movies. It’s not like they’ve done anything to earn a larger audience with their very specific type of semi-humor and overwrought drama. (I say this as someone who very much enjoyed GoG3 and very much considered the first two movies to be mid.)

I don’t know who Chris Pratt’s agent is, but attaching him as the least interesting actor in a decent list of massively successful pre-packaged IP despite his solo films brutally tanking and dragging down entire studio finance departments is a coup.
