VW made several attempts to replace the Type 1, it outlasted all of them.

The P1 had legendary shoes to fill, and unlike the F1 it had to fight over the spotlight with the 918 and LaFerrari. Getting even close to the F1’s status was pretty much impossible, but they put forth a great attempt.
