I always assumed you could start a Prius with a granola bar. Who knew?

Evidently this car smokes itself.

Is it "JILL" or "GILL"?

I had actually forgot about starbound ... Thanks

Perhaps a little too light in the front, maybe?

When you're paying $40,000 for an interior, the discount doesn't seem to matter that much.

Dammit.

Amateurs.

Let me answer that for you, in video form.

Electric chokes are overrated. I have 2 cars with them.

Yes, you totally have to become one with your engine when you drive a car with a carburetor. My '72 Dodge Charger has a manual choke - so I pump the gas pedal 3 times, pull out the choke with the gas pushed in, start the car, and then push the choke half way in and give it a little gas when it catches.

Later carbs often had anti-tamper plugs over the adjustment points - usually some kind of plastic that served to both hold the adjustment in place and give evidence of deviation from factory settings, since you'd have to drill/gouge the plastic out to get to the adjustment.

It's kind of like a secret handshake – it won't start up unless you follow the right steps.

I love how there's always an art to starting carb'd vehicles. Each one has a different personality when it's cold. For my truck, you pump the pedal once to engage the choke, crank it over to get the oil moving, rest your foot on the gas and it'll go.

I have a 1989 Cadillac Brougham that has a carbureted 307. It just passed 200,000 miles and is still running strong. I had it tuned up once around 150,000 miles, and my friend who did it for me said the carburetor was a "virgin" at that point, and had not been tinkered with since it rolled off the assembly line. Not

We had in my family both a '77 and a '78 Civic for many years; both were carburated and were probably the most reliable and long lasting cars we've had and that's including a Grand Wagoneer.

If you treat your carb as a regular maintenance item, then yes, they can be just as reliable. Especially if you upgrade to a modern carb.
