That is a completely average price. Luckily the generics are identical and half as much. I have noticed that if you try to look up ingredient lists for formula, you get the dairy-sensitive version posted over and over, mostly to support the assertion that formula contains, you know, corn syrup. It's totally deceiving.

I've heard all that, but I just...I don't believe it. There have not been any studies definitively proving it, because there's no way to control for all the other factors. Are we really supposed to believe that what a child eats in its first year will have a greater impact on future weight than what its parents feed

No, they aren't. I can say this as someone who fed formula and read a LOT of labels - even the cheap off-brand stuff I normally used did not have corn syrup. It is not as prevalent as it's made out to be. Perhaps SOME do, but I have not personally encountered any (aside from the aforementioned specialized formulas) so

Now that mine are older, it's kind of funny to me how much emphasis we place on what they eat for the first year. In the long run, it makes no. difference. at. all.

There isn't HFCS in any formula. This is a common misconception. Non-dairy formulas for special diets do contain corn syrup solids, but no HFCS.

While I happily accepted breastmilk from a friend who produced like dammit, no fucking way would I want milk from a stranger, with who-knows-what kind of health history, etc. Say what you will about formula, but it's a carefully regulated product. This isn't.

I lived in Berkeley for a long time, and we had, like, three days of heat per year. Everyone would suffer and wilt until the fog rolled back in. I do not miss that at all - summer should be hot, it's like a rule.

Why was my comment posted in size 1000 font?!

I will gladly take ALL OF YOUR DEGREES. I'm cold. And really annoyed, because we just took our summer trip to the Dells (for non-Midwesterners, the Dells is the cheesiest vacation spot you can imagine, with a million waterparks) and it fucking rained and was cold the whole time! It finally warmed into the low 70s the

Same here - I am cold! I actually love the hot summers and am feeling kind of cheated. Especially since we spent last weekend freezing our asses off in the Dells - waterparks are no fun if you need a puffy jacket :(

"ASSHOLE: Cries, stomps, grabs toy, smashes it, runs around, screams head off as if being tortured until appeased with new toy."

Coconut milk ice cream is the best. I'm not vegan, but I am health conscious, so I like to pretend that my desserts are healthy - coconut milk ice cream fits the bill nicely.

Laura is herself fat, so I'm pretty sure she was being sarcastic.

I thought this was well known already? I've read about this a few times. It was certainly true for me (I constantly worried that I was going to throw the baby off the balcony, stuff like that), but luckily for me, I've had OCD all my life. So while it was distressing, I at least knew it was just my brain playing

I thought it was a pretty sweet hairdo in 1990.

As a former 20-something who battled weight, I assume no such thing. However, facts is: it's easier to lose/maintain weight in your 20s than in your 30s and beyond. Yeah, I was pretty happy to find that out too :/

I just saw a guy with SS and Third Reich eagle tattoos at the Long Grove Strawberryfest today.

I...remember...~shiver~

Totally. It bugs me when I hear that "it shouldn't ever hurt if the latch is right," because bullshit. Having a ravenous baby attached to a sensitive part for hours every day is going to hurt, no matter how good the latch! And I think it's really discouraging to tell new moms that it will be a beautiful dream, and not
