These places are just weird (Sedona is in this category... another Korean brand) because everybody that lives there instantly becomes a shaman of some belief system or another.

The windshield has to be the right amount of wet. If I sense any amount of dry wiper on dry windshield friction, it drives me nuts.

I guess I’m not eligible, since I use the RainX washer fluid.

We used to go every year when I was a kid, a couple of times we stayed at one of the hotels attached to the monorail network. If you’re lucky enough to sit in the driver’s car it’s kind of fun. And it was always interesting to me that the handrails on either side of the door doubled as structure for the door

I prefer the Aerotrain. Basically the same concept, but the train uses conventional hovercraft technology instead of magnets.

The lack of Simpsons references makes me sad.

No votes for Highway 30? ... the Lincoln Highway. Small town American at its best.

I’ve done 70, 80, and 90.  There isn’t much to recommend about 80 through Iowa and Nebraska — not much to look at and lots of truck traffic.  70 through Kansas is similarly bleak but seems to have a bit less traffic.  90 through Minnesota and South Dakota was a pleasant surprise — much less traffic and nicer scenery.

For 12 years the wife and I would go from Northern California to Florida and back every year. We always take I 10 or I 40. I 10 is 2 days in Texas and if the weather is nice and not flooded in Louisiana we go that way. I 40 is much more scenic (Arizona/New Mexico) plus you are only in Texas for 2 hours or so. North if

I’ve driven across the country at least nine times. I’ve done 40, 70 and 80. My thoughts:

New Yorker here extremely jealous of this thread.

Back in 2017, I went from Baltimore to Las Vegas and back. I did I-70 going and I-40 to I-81 coming back. Honestly, the best part of it was seeing landscapes I hadn’t seen before - it was my first time driving past Indiana. Rocky mountains, desert, etc.

I also saved all my dashcam footage and got my resident video

Great Eastern Highway across Australia from Perth to Sydney.

At what point is it speeding on I-10?

Western Colorado and Eastern Utah would like a word. Really, the whole damn Rockies disagree with your take.

I40 through Oklahoma is pretty terrible though, although that was more because of the state of the road and the constant repair work at that time, I feel like it was a bumper to bumper crawl across the entire state. I thought I70 was going to be pretty bad across Kansas, but it’s much prettier than I expected, lots of

Why does everyone in west Texas drive so fast? You have to drive that fast just to get anywhere in a decent amount of time!*

The interstates are the worst way to see the US unless time is the most important factor. If you want a little bit of everything and a mostly central route, I’d suggest US Highway 6, from Bishop, CA to Cape Cod (and you could start or end at the old terminus of Long Beach, CA). From 1936 to 1964, it was the longest

Was really hoping it was John Muir of National Park creation fame.  Alas I doubt he would’ve had a VW in 1914 at the time of his death...
