I took one of these up to 300k miles with no serious issues. It was the vehicle my brother and I learned to drive in and served as both our first car and then as my 4th car again. It took a serious beating over the 13 years my family owned it and ran like a top when I sold it last year.

I want to see a new new Beetle body on a 996 chassis/drivetrain.

I did read the story (for once) but seriously, when the headline and lead picture give you 99% of the info there’s no point in anything but a quick skim of the body. Hey, at least they’re racking up that ad money from things I will never buy.
