People like you are the EXACT reason that black women are uncomfortable with Jezebel and feminism as a whole. We can say shit about our experiences that might be different from yours. without somebody whining about "why don't you fix your community? Y'all are pieces of shit too!!!" Thanks a fucking lot, but let me

Yes. Actually there are plenty of black women and men who are very aware of how black women are treated within their own culture/community and try to talk about it, raise awareness, and think up solutions.

I wonder if he's TRYING to go for that creepy molester neighbor look?

It should be known to all that in this decade, white American males are notorious for attempting to use African-American girls and women as Starter Girlfriends. See also:

Oh shut up. Save some of your incredible free-flowing empathy for the black contestants that they reduced to tears with their racist bullying. This is a live feed show, it's not an issue of them "being portrayed" as racist assholes, it's an issue of them being racist assholes. And if being a racist asshole makes

Sorry you got mixed up in all of this. Please tell her, and tell her everything. That you met on a dating site, the good morning texts, the pictures, the lunch skyping, the fact that he lied about being single, that he was going to a friends wedding, everything. She may get pissed at you, but understand she will want

Questions about traveling out of the country to use as a marker of 'quirky' or 'interesting' could also be used as class markers, non? They also asked about attendance at music events, which could transcend class I suppose, but why does music make you quirky or interesting? Interest in music is actually pretty

If this is too small to read, it says: 50 Years After March on Washington Some See Rap Music As A Problem.

Sweet lord, I just got another telling me I am racist because I pointed out that the dancers were black. And that I should see past color. And that they were paid to do it, so clearly they did't have any problem with it., so niether should we.

Lol. Unless the race fairy came in the middle of the night, I'm still very much a black lady, thanks.

Pamela, just curious do you know what #Solidarityisforwhitewomen and why it would be relevant to this discussion?

Yes, totally. I'll tell all of the people without institutional power to agitate and change the status quo, instead of asking the people with the power to do something about it. Sounds like a solid plan. Thank GOD you were here to help me come up with it.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

Thanks, but I'm not that awesome. I'm just really really annoyed that Jezebel doesn't follow the very same feminist tenets that they taught me.

Fucking YES! Forgot to mention that. Not a single tribute, or mention. NOPE. Too busy giving straight white guys awards for recognizing that homophobia is bad, and not letting the queer woman on the hook speak.

And all that happened on the anniversary of Aaliyah's death.

Fucking YES. I was watching the performance with my jaw dropped, but apparently not for the same reason as everyone else.

Okay.... but can we talk about the problematic and racist nature of her performance? Her literal use of people as props? Her association of her newfound sexuality with the traditional codifiers of black female culture, thereby perpetuating the Jezebel stereotype that black women are lewd, lascivious and uncontrollably

I don't care about her using her sexuality in whatever way she wants. I've seen that before. We've all seen that before. It doesn't disturb me. I'm pretty sure her repeated use of black people as props is what grosses me out the most.
