Fuck me? For pointing out the hypocrisy of others whining that they'll dump Xbox and go to PC Gaming because of these issues? Seriously? Do you even think before you post?

I agree too. I'm more likely to stop coming to Kotaku over this crap than I am to avoid Xbox One over the other stuff. It's getting ridiculous.
Well that was an intelligent, on-topic, and informed reply.
Do you think Steam lets you rent, trade, or buy used games? Sell them back? Do you think Steam never checks online to verify your games? Really?
You don't need to "log in once a day" for chrissakes. The thing has wireless and wired connections. It just calls home every 24 hours. You'll never notice.
If you're hauling your gaming console onto a cruise, you have issues. It's just a really, really bad example. Its' like saying "I'm going on a vacation to Paris... I can't wait to sit in my hotel room the entire time reading a book!" ... please. I've been on cruises. You're not going to bring along something as…
Playing on a cruise ship? Really? THIS is your use-case? Does ANYONE ever do that ever? If they do, they're idiots. Seriously. Put down the pitchfork and come back to rational, reasonable land.
They'll patch the system to remove the requirements. Hell, there's nothing to say that the 24 hour thing will even last a year... they may up it to 48 hours or eliminate it all together at any time if it turns out to be a real problem.
Lots of people apparently hate it, yes. But for good reason? Yeah, I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you there. It's just more of the Win8 hate and general Microsoft haterism IMHO. It's kinda ridiculous. Honestly, I read all the news, and had NO idea it was such a "horrible news day" for MS and Xbox One…
*I* still call the UI the "Metro UI". But I dont' confuse the fact that the Start Screen *IS* the Metro UI and the Metro UI *IS* the Start Screen. The Start Screen is the Start Screen. I'm not sure why you find this such a difficult or controversial issue to grasp, but you're clearly not grasping it (or just…
I know this.
Right, sorry, "Start Screen". It's been a rough morning.
Just call it the "Start Menu" and you'll be correct in all cases, quotes or not.
Well, at least you're informed now and won't make that silly mistake.
My point is, equating the start screen with "Metro" or the "Metro UI" shows a deep lack of understanding of both the terms, and what's going on. The Start Screen is just the Start Screen. It isn't Metro in and of itself. It is at most a very tiny part of what "Metro" actually is. Anyone saying "pressing the…
It's not "speculation" when people have used the actual builds and reported what it does and what happens. Sorry, but it's really been completely clear for a while know.
So, uh, stop?
There are many fixes for multi-monitors and desktop/metro apps. They haven't been discussed in detail yet in these previews, but you'll get more info on them by the end of the month, I'm sure.
And yet, I'm a highly technical person, a software developer, who has Win8 installed on all my home devices (non-touch Desktop/keyboard/mouse, Laptop with trackpad, and touch-screen Surface RT). And I love it.
1) The tiled apps are only vertical columns. The number of columns possible is determined by your resolution. It's just like snap (left/right). There is no "top" or "bottom" app.
