There were some people who belittled Quinn for Depression Quest, but it went personal with the post. From this point any claim that was targeted at gamers was for many a personal insult, that they are attacked, and according to claimants they should be annihilated.

A game can have poor representation of women and still sell. I don't get this weird idea that gamers somehow automatically reject games that don't create well rounded female characters.

Gamers: "We want games to be considered Art!"

It looks weird and stupid to insiders, so I can only imagine.

That's just it. People tend to ID you with the "enemy" group if you don't agree w/ all of their thoughts. That's what it feels like if it's bull.

Nobody is stating that YOU'RE that bad. What everyone keeps trying to point out is that this whole thing started out with the harassment of these women, and if everyone keeps rallying under that name, the movement will be forever linked to that.

"all Muslims are terrorists"

I've been saying this for a while now.

I grew up in a time when being a "gamer" was cause for ridicule. Shit, admitting to owning a Nintendo in the mid-80's was a good way to get your ass kicked at my school (not at all schools, I understand).

Now that gaming's finally mainstreamed, and the hobby has -finally- gained

that "I wish I was never born" thing I can assure you that often means a hell of a lot more than nothing. sometimes it is just a complaint but it is often much more than that it is often a call for help or a serious consideration on ending ones life. Never take something like that likely because maybe it's nothing but

If they want to ignore them, that's fine. It's for everyone else reading who would think they were right if no other facts were presented.

I don't interpret it as smugness. I'm no fan of Sarkeesian's presentation style, but in this instance, I believe that Tweet should be read as, "Seriously, the fuck. You're not going to shut me up, so keep trying."

In that—even if I disagree with her methods (though I do agree with her message, as she's been bang-on

It's funny how this situation mirrors the extremism perpetrated against women every day in the middle east. We view ourselves as so much more civilized and accomplished, but then people do things like this... hatred and bigotry, it seems, can't be contained by national borders.

Dude, it doesn't matter who she points the blame at. Shit like this is a reflection of us all.

By you essentially calling her a raging man-hating feminist you are perpetuating the very reason she is speaking out. You are the problem here.

Okay, seriously. What in the actual fuck, folks?

I teach English at the college level; last year, I was privileged to teach ENG 230, which at my institution is a rotating (through the faculty) course that is generously labeled "Special Topics in Literature."

I taught my course, for two semesters, as "Gaming: Literary

I've not seen Utopia, I better give it a watch.

William Gibson is right about everything.

Can confirm: played as Assassin, did not play with Zevran's dagger.

When I did all the marketplace stuff, they told me my kid was probably eligible for CHIP and that they'd send my state the eligibility information. The state requested more information. Then more. Then more. It took a shitload of paperwork and literally months for them to finally make a determination.

This is very admirable. Mental health issues are definitely more deserving of attention than a silly image contest. Thank you for providing this update.
