You can’t really say the boy, being only 16 years old, too young to have fully developed brain architecture, and full of hormones, is equipped to make any rational decisions in a matter like this, either.
That’s not a ghost window. That’s a ghost ROOM. It appears in the video that the interior wall is several feet farther into the room than the window on the exterior. And clearly there is a room visible through the window despite the fact that the room it’s viewing can’t be more than a foot or two deep.

Thing is, even the highest literature is fundamentally derivative. Even Gilgamesh—one of the oldest epic poems we have a significant amount of text for—takes its main character and much of its story from earlier Sumerian poems. Gilgamesh also happens be one of many ancient stories to contain the flood myth.
When I did the last 1.0 story dungeon, my group was finished with the whole thing inside 15 minutes. I finished the cutscenes for that dungeon about 45 minutes later, and then still had about half an hour of cutscenes to do to finish the story. It was both hilarious and disheartening, since I didn’t get to DO anything.
