I’ve thought about this too because I may actually get a 2 Series in the next few years. Critically the M240i is missing a limited slip diff, which is sort of necessary for a car of this type. Maybe it’s because I would actually drive the car hard and race it (would replace my 3 series), but that’s sort of a

The idea of socioeconomics will always be tied into cars and prestige. Even for people like me who buy certain cars because I like how they drive or what the features are, there are others who buy that car to look “rich” or to show off.

Yeah. ABC is actually more complicated than ever and now uses a stereoscopic camera system to read the road for bumps and prepare the suspension for them (called Magic Body Control).

Really? I’ve found that the S65 AMG and S550 RWD (back when it had the 7G tronic) have essentially the same gearing with perhaps the S65 having a 3-5% longer final drive ratio but that’s about it. The S65 also has a dual-clutch gearbox versus the regular automatic in non-AMG S-Class models.

Yep. I have a W222 which unfortunately has runflats and no space for a spare tire. As a result, with the factory 20" wheels the only real choices I have for tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric RF or Pirelli P Zero RF. Car came with the Goodyears but I’ve been having some issues with them meaning I’m pretty much

They’re incredible. I’ve driven a CPO W222 S65 at the dealer that sold me my first S Class. So much power.

Hopefully with the electric car they’ll finally be able to integrate the hydraulic active body control system with AWD. I had to skip 4Matic on my S Class to get ABC (and MBC) but due to the massive torque, even at low RPM, the car is a little tail-happy in the rain. Not really what I look for in my full-size luxury

It’s not just the E60/E61. The E83, F25, E70, and F15 all had issues with water leaks. A lot of the time it would be around the windshield or sunroof/pano roof. Water could go into the footwell or dashboard through the A pillar but there were other problems too.

BMW has lots of issues with water intrusion. 5 series, X3, and X5 from multiple generations.

Tesla’s response was to send out a couple guys in fleece sweaters, jeans, and hospital gloves to pick up the battery cells with their hands and put them in rubbermaid bins full of salty water.

This is good as long as it has a better interior than the regular F-Pace. The materials in the F-Pace, even the top of the line S model, are pretty lacking for a $50k-$70k SUV. Interior design doesn’t exactly inspire either. I’ve heard rumors that JLR is refusing to improve the interior of the F-Pace so it doesn’t

I saw the video of later after the crash and Tesla dealing with it seemed to just be two guys in fleece sweaters, jeans, and nitrile gloves picking up the battery cells with their hands and putting them in plastic storage tubs of solution, which was presumably just salt water.

Thanks for the link. I guess I’d only seen the initial reports which didn’t have those bystander stories in them about the events right after.

The exact events after this incident don’t seem to have been outlined yet. Was the driver extracted from the vehicle before or after it caught fire? Was the driver fatally injured by the accident itself or by the fire? Was the fire department able to put out the fire or were they unsuccessful and the fire eventually

If this ends up being $70k it would be an amazing deal. A 4 cylinder Mercedes E-Class costs $70k. Try more like $110k+ for this V8 Cadillac.

Even though it’s a 2+2 and rear–rather than mid–engined, I wouldn’t take the 911 out of that comparison. The 911 Turbo is one of the main competitors to the R8.

Yeah, that is a lot for a modern car, especially one from a higher-end brand, even with an automatic and all-wheel-drive.

606 hp at the crank but only 488 hp at the wheels? That’s a very large amount of drivetrain power loss for a modern car, even with an automatic and AWD.

It could also be the new 6 Series Gran Coupe based on the same chassis as the G30 5er. The current 6 Series GC is still F10 based.

These wide and long glass roofs actually provide more headroom than a conventional roof.
