Audis are just overpriced Golfs with garbage engines and Lexuses have terrible seats and smell like crayons. The only reason you don’t buy a Mercedes is because you’re a chump who can’t afford it.

Meh, I can’t see anyone getting that excited over any crossover.
This pricing is no different than the XC90, which has been a home-run despite its premium price point.
When people start shopping between cars which are a foot different in length instead of ones that are exactly same size let me know.
My local Lexus dealer has a few NX turbo AWD without nav, so costing $38k-$39k.
The pricing on the Tahoe and Yukon seem like a total disaster until you remember than people are getting $10,000 to $20,000 off MSRP. On a German or Japanese car you’re lucky if you get $4,000 off.
Huh? They’re within 5-10 horsepower of every other 4 cylinder in the segment.
Hmmm... I’ve never heard this before. I can’t imagine someone shopping something as small as a GLA with an NX or MKC. That’s a huge size difference.
Oh yeah, the A3 and A4 are super lame inside but the A8 is okay (if not quite outdated) and the Q7 is quite nice. I actually traded my A8 for a S-Class and don’t even have an Audi anymore.
The 4 cyl T engine in the NX came out 2 years ago while 4 cyl T/S engine in the Volvo came out three years ago. Maybe the transmission could pick up a couple more cogs, but the engine in the NX is actually a year newer.
That’s a little silly of BMW considering the X3 is built in South Carolina.
Why? Should a BMW X3 cost more than an X5? Should an E-Class cost more than an S-Class? Should an XC60 cost more than an XC90? You can certainly get nice small cars, but as you go up in size within a company’s model range you go up in cost. You have to pay more to get a larger luxury SUV, and that’s just a fact.
The CX-9 seems like it would be a little slow, especially on regular gas. I would be surprised if it hit 60 in close to 8 seconds with 87 octane. Meanwhile the Honda Pilot is doing it in 6 seconds and my X5 is closer to 5. That turbo engine in a CX-5 would be pretty great though, closer to an Escape 2.0T.
Who gets excited about owning a Volvo crossover? Lol.
You can’t see it looks when you’re driving it.
Yeah but the 3 series has always had poor interior materials. Except for the leather, my last-gen 3 series has worse interior materials than a new Passat. It’s a sports car so I didn’t buy it for that.
I’ve sat in the new CX-9 at an Auto show last fall and was with a family friend when we test drove the new CX-5 a couple weeks ago...on my suggestion.
That’s because most people online aren’t used to new luxury cars so they get wow’d by the design and don’t notice how the build quality actually is. The panel fitment, leather stitching, and leather folding in the Volvos is not as good as you get in Mercedes, Audi, or BMW.
F15 X5. Got it near-fully-loaded with all of the tech and nappa leather multi-contour seats and the full nappa leather interior. Nicer leather than the Volvo, even if the interior design isn’t quite as clean.
Those aren’t luxury vehicles though. Even though the design is very nice, they have way less power than any of the luxury competitors and the materials, especially the interior plastics, are nowhere close to luxury standards. They don’t ride as smooth and aren’t quite as quiet and refined as luxury cars to drive. That…
