I don’t think an Alfa would ever be as reliable as a Civic or 3 and both of those are available in manual which is how I would spec them.  I had a 3 hatch and it was an awesome car.  Great MPG and very reliable.

they are not very reliable and potentially quite complicated to fix.

There is a lot of crime here in Hawaii that goes unreported (large conservative Asian culture that does not wish to bother others tends to promote this). Lots of things get stolen then shipped out by boat to Asia or the US mainland where in Asia there is sometimes higher demand for “US goods”. Here is an example of

That’s what I thought at first too, then I remembered that boats are an awful handy way to ship contraband to places that don’t give a crap about our laws. It’s also extremely unlikely that there is a lot if any metal processing going on in Hawaii, especially the illegal stuff, so all the stolen cats are probably

I would hope some sort of update/recycling program, but I’m not that optimistic, in as much as we don’t have a sustainable alternative to gasoline to be used in ICE engines.

This might be a hot take but as electric cars ramp up to mass adoption I think there is going to be a problem down the road. I think electric cars although great when new are going to be a big problem 20 or more years from now as they age out. Look at 20+ year old Altimas today, they are running because people dump

It’s the answer... for death!

years ago, when my kids were younger and I was car shopping I found that convertibles of all sorts have dramatically lower fatality rates than a similar hard top vehicle. Like at the time, Mustangs were really bad about killing their drivers. But Mustang convertibles were about 10x safer.

Wait...does this mean that Miata is not always the answer?

Now playing

I have two, this one back in the day made me want to get a Volvo:

I actually posted the Supra on the actual Jalopnik.com site yet @owen_bellwood choose someone who suggested it on Twitter and didnt even give me credit even with 24 recommendations. At least joint “suggested by:”. I like Jalopnik but if I am going to participate at least make it so voices are heard.

Agree with that. The active aero and exhaust of the 3000GT was a cool gimmick, but IIRC, almost no one had it because only one model year had all the gizmos, and they apparently decided to remove one feature a year until it was just a big ass car that had no advantage over its rivals.

I understand and respect your perspective NeutronStar73 and agree with it, especially the different camps. I was also in the “scene” at the time. From my viewpoint even those with money didnt pick the supra as their first choice, if they did have the money it was either a 300ZX (with lots of JDM mods) or it was a BMW

Got to love its best in class 5cyl engine. “Tuners” burning out a piston to try and make that 600hp on a stock block. Engine the weight of a ford mod motor but only 3l and 6cyl.

I personally hate those stupid videos “Is that, is that, is that a Supra !!??”

Correct. Add the C5 Corvette to cars that beat the Supra TT in the late 90s. Moreover, if you through tens of thousands of dollars modifying a C5 - you can make it stupid fast, too.

Not going to lie, I’ve hated the look of the front clip since day 1 and my opinion has never wavered.  I appreciate what tuners have been able to do with them however the looks of the prior gen was so much better.

this is a good take. Supra is still a great car it is just overrated and put up on a pedestal because some engineers at a tuning house spent millions and millions of dollars of R&D to mofify the tits out of it to make it actually great.

4th Gen Supra. During its time known as a heavy GT (Grand Touring) car and mostly overlooked compared to the FD and NSX and some may even say GT3000 at the time. Only when they got more affordable and you started seeing 1000HP tunes did they start picking up in value and people started wanting them. F&F fame also
