Funny you use a first-gen: It had a very, very similar problem — It sat on the lots a lonnng time (they made it more accessible than the V12 with the 840i v8). But additionally, a lot of the car mags at the time said “what’s the point of this?,” and the market was confused as well.

Oh right... BMWs used to be attractive.

Ouch, too many beautiful pics in your comment. My heart can only take so much!

In the last year the 8 series was produced 1999 it was so out there and really stood apart from the BMW line up as truly something special. Here it is compared to the rest of the lineup. I think the equivalent today would be the i8 in how polarizing the 8 series was in 1999 compared to the rest of the lineup.

When I switch between my winter and summer wheels there is about a 10 lb difference in the assembly weight. The ride goes from lithe and supple to harsh and pounding. Every pound makes a difference. Acceleration is slower based on my butt dyno, as the rotational inertia is increased.

If you’ve got the money, give it a shot. See if you hate the increased noise and ride harshness.

I have had a few different wheel sizes on my BRZ. By far the most noticeable difference was when I went from my stock 18.4 lb STI wheels (17x7) to my 16x6.5 steelies in the winter, which weighed something like 26 lb. The difference at low speeds wasn’t all that noticeable, but at highway speed, it felt like the paper

I can feel the difference on my Focus ST between the OEM 17" that came with my old SE and the 18" OEM 5-spokes that came with the ST. I don’t know the actual weight difference other than the 17" combo is lighter, but the wheels feel much more eager to turn (which isn’t helpful as I use the 17s for winter tires). Not

Google “unsprung weight”. Unless you’re moving to forged wheels, you’ll see significant increase in unsprung weight which impacts mileage and performance.

Sounds like you know what you want (larger wheels) so go ahead if you don’t think 3 MPG represents significant loss of efficiency. If you get serious about lap times you’ll put on some lighter and smaller diameter wheels with sticky tires. It’s not like it’s a difficult mod to reverse.

I believe off-road parks are private property, so fees are up to the owner.

In his defense I didn’t really think of using Google maps or that there was actual parks that offer off-roading. So he kind of lead me in the right direction. I always thought finding trails was kind of a look for it/stumble across it or know someone who knows of a trail thing. Now I am wondering what if anything they

I would argue that GM absolutely takes risks but they have historically murdered their own products before they can properly develop. GM developed a viable, promising electric car years before its competitors.

Looks are a little deceiving due to the low-slung roof. The overall length of the RX-Vision concept is said to match the FD3S RX-7, about 168", it is a rather small car. Like the FD, it very-well may maintain the visual look of a looooong hood, but if it moves to production would likely remain reasonable in actual

I know many of you may disagree however make me CEO of Harley Davidson and I will make these and other variants to target my generation of what motorcycles are and should be!

I am so torn on this as I do like 4 seat convertibles as they seem to be the best of both worlds. Is the BMW M3 Convertible and Audi S5 Convertible considered sports cars? I KNOW the CLK Convertible and the Lexus IS convertibles are NOT sports cars. But the M3 and the A5 have the performance to match.
