Serious Question for those in the know: Do these or the 2nd gens RX’s have any catastrophic problems? How are they when they get high up in miles? I am strongly considering getting one for a daily since they are so cheap now. However, due to their age most I have been looking at have like 100,000+ miles. How are they

geez ya hillbilly, a 2011 4Runner doesn’t use a key ... we got a button right on that dash that ya push to start ‘er up.

GREAT POINT the_AUGHT! Didn’t think about this! Great insight!! So, in theory, you keep the AC on and just leave the car running so the car stays cool. Will the car actually get that hot in the 15 to 20 minutes while away to justify it? Oh and I can totally see this for pets as well!

Air conditioning, you ever been to KC in the summer?

Thank you for the explanation jvbftw.

Kansas City

Can someone explain to me the mindset?

They’re super cool in that blue with the white roof.

It was an ego thing for Ferdinand Piech, nothing more than that really. And for the Phaeton they did use the same platform and drivetrain as the Bentley Continental, so it wasn’t like it was entirely a wasted effort.

My guess is the insane W8 Passat sedan and wagons.

Phaeton, Touareg... what’s the third?

The fun thing with this was that these platforms were already in development for their more expensive brands. The Touareg was/is the same platform as the Cayenne and the Phaeton was the same platform as the Bentley Continental GT. Piech wanted VW to build weird/overbuilt/prestige cars before he retired and got 3 of

Wow in the early 2000's VW really wanted to try to move upscale. This Touareg plus the Phaeton. Does anyone know the reasoning on why they did this when they had Audi?  Wouldnt it be like trying to take Toyota upscale to try to compete with its own in house Lexus name badge?

Those Lambo heels a re a parody, yes? Please?

Other comments keep mentioning that they are becoming more and more like Lexus. And many say Lexus did the big grill thing first. However, I always consider Audi doing it first way back in 05. Is it because the Lexus one is so “Predator-likeand so polarizing that people just assume they went big first?

Supersized.

This all makes sense now.

I miss my 1997 M-Edition. RWD slow car fast beats overpowered FWD turbo hatch in the fun department.
