I have driven these. Its borderline DANGEROUS how large the blindspots are. I am surprised it didnt break any DOT rules when they designed it this way.

Good point. If they enclose the cockpit cant they use live stream on-board cameras to catch those actions? From what I see only the helmet is visible and they go by so fast anyway how can you really see what their head is doing?

Why is this an open cockpit anyway? Tradition? I am sure it does not help with aerodynamics or safety. Its 2018 why not just enclose the drivers area with some sort of glass or clear type of plastics with a roll bar type structure.
