I doubt I would ever own a convertible, rent one for the weekend maybe... I can't say I loathe them, I just don't enjoy them most of the year. Sort of like leather seats.

They aren't "that" fast though. Both the LFA and GTR have faster lap times around the ring, and the same or better acceleration. Thats a problem if you want to call any, some or all of these supercars.

The Viper and Corvette are definitely not super cars. Super amazing sports cars, Hell yes! But all of these cars (And I will add GTR LFA in the SASC group too), are not quite supercars. I think they are all missing at least 1 key ingredient to make the list.

Maybe, but the Lamborghini is faster, better looking (My an significant margin), more expensive, more rare, and the name really stands out. Tell a none-car person you have an Audi R8 and they would respond either a. "Oh, I like Audi!", or b. "A Volkswagen?". On the other hand tell someone you have a Lamborghini…

I think the GTR at least has the performance numbers to be a supercar. So, I could let GTR slide on that, but the point I was trying to make was that nothing of the R8 is really supercar.

This is actually exactly where I was trying to get too (Except I can't lump the R8 in the supercar group).

Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley.... There is heritage there! And an abundance of style. These cars are also generally pushing some limits. I just don't see any of that with the R8, and I think these are the things that should really force the classification of a supercar.

Just going 0-60, and 1/4 mile when I have them but:

The GTR only makes the list of the maybe super cars for me. Not because of styling, either, because 0-60 times of 2.7s. The LFA looks like a supercar, but I don't really think it is one, except the price.

Not really touting, but the LFA looks more like a supercar than the R8, and the GTR is faster than both.

I can't call this Volkswagen a "Supercar" with a straight face.

Where can I buy the full sized one? Heck, make a it 2+2 and I would have a daily driver that was than any electric car ever should be!

It may be legal, but its still an annoyance and a hazard. Its a turning lane, There have been times when I merge into the turning lane, at speed, and then someone tries to pull the mentioned maneuver and is coming at me head on!
