Nice to see someone with a genuine ear for languages in this thread, as that woman, despite her screaming children, gave no fucks at all about Mr. Maniac with the chainsaw. Which makes me laugh all the more at all these fuckheads on this thread who are all “Ohhhh...if I had my gun!!!”.
“I remember my first ride in a Saab 99 Turbo when I was a kid. The wait, the spool, the push, the flickering boost needle. The drama of the whole experience.”
Wow! This just brought me back to the mid-'80s man! I had one of these and used it with my Commodore 64, way back when. I have zero recollection of what I played with the thing, but I recall that Wico Boss well!
Reminds me of 'The Smiths' lyric, from the song 'Hand in Glove'..."the sun shines out of our behinds".
Each and every time I see this Kia GT4 concept, I can't help thinking that THIS is what a modernly revamped Saab Sonnet should've been, had Saab not gone tits up.
I would soooo love it, if that were to happen!
This is NOT the sort of thing one should encounter on a ride home, after a hearty night of drinking!
This is exactly what I was thinking, when I read this article. What kind of loathsome, vile bitch goes after a man's project car??!! Hell, if I had the cash to burn, I'd buy it and then make sure it got back to its proper owner.
This Swedish car nut is entirely vibing your wavelength man. Though I've always wanted a white '62 P1800 notch coupe, like Simon 'The Saint' Templar, a white P1800ES would do, for sure!
Is August 'let's dump all the Crack Pipe cars on the Jalops' month or what??!!!
I can't say that I'd feel the least bit comfortable with moderation of reports being done by fellow commenters or article authors. There's simply too great an allowance for biases to result in reports of commentary which people simply do not agree with.
This is a spot on suggestion for a viable solution! A report button, along with a moderator empowered with enforcing the validity of a report (in order to avoid false reporting, based on commenter biases...I certainly know that I'd be tempted to 'report' gun nuts and right-fascists).
Had to scroll all the way to the bottom of this comment thread before posting it myself. Glad to see it here and kudos for the sweet succinct write-up from saab900enduro!
Travis or some Jalopnik editor had best either edit or retract this article before they come under legal scrutiny for libel or defamation of character. Is it too much to ask that you do a bit of background research before publishing such a horrendously erroneous and potentially damaging article???!!!!
As much as this gorgeous beast of a car made my pulse rush, the height of that hatch lift-over nagged at me as well. Ideally, for practical and labradoodle purposes, that lift-over should be flush or nearly flush with the rear storage deck. If they make that happen, this car just might become the most practical two…
