A lot of the muscle cars I’ve seen thus far are restomods and are fetching a high price, which is fine as they’re classics at this point. There are some affordable ones, I’m fairly certain they’ll require some level of repair so were I to go that route I’d have to be wary of just how much repairs are needed and the

Volvos are great, while not terribly exciting to look at at least until the recent years (love the S60 Polestar in sedan and wagon form!) — Maintenance aside, they seem quite reliable, bulletproof even. Definite tanks on wheels.

Great article, Esther! I’m not sure if it were just me but it made me recall the Macklemore song “Thrift Shop”

I had a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT, it was my first vehicle actually and had served me well. At first as a hot-blooded young guy, I wanted what most guys want as a first car: A sports/muscle car. At the time my personal choices were along the lines of roadsters like the Honda S2000, Toyota MR2, Ford Mustang (although I

I would choose the first option and wish for a ‘71 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, and then start up my own Uber and take overly long routes to my passenger’s destination because it’s all about being everyone’s private driver, right?

Combining poutine with timbits? All I’m getting are images of timbits drowning in gravy, although I had a similar knee-jerk reaction when I heard the term “Nutella Pizza”.. :D

LOL at least you still settled on a rare vehicle, a pretty good one too! I’ve got plenty of respect for Minivans, you don’t see very many around anymore with all those various SUV flavours rolling around on the streets. The Volvo, while stately, probably didn’t have the little extra perks you get with the Stream. Then

Well that is refreshing to know! I had thought the Civic a separate line with it’s own proprietary parts. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I’m very grateful for the advice and the information, it really makes a huge difference for me. You’re definitely right that most of the RSX-S’s that are out there tend to be at the 100K and much higher, and I can’t quite assume the dealership will have done all the proper maintenance on it either.

LOL! The “no seats” part killed me. Yeah, but it’d make for a unique driving experience lol..

That just sounds amazing. We mostly see American muscle cars on the big screen and not so much of the Japanese muscle/pony cars. It’s a little unfortunate, because there were some real gems from there. The first gen Toyota Celica comes to mind.

Damn..so it’s Kinja, being...Kinja. Here I thought it was my phone just being cranky. I certainly do hope you find yourself an awesome classic that meshes well with all the experience of having a house and family! Currently I’ve neither and despite family members nagging, I’m ignoring my male biological clock (do we

Well colour me brown and call me a wagon - (said no one, ever?) — but did you just type “$600” and “running” in the same sentence!? Prior to restoration too?!!

I’m so jealous (!), you’ve no idea lol... The ones I’ve looked at are fairly rough, and right now I’m in the market for a daily driver of the coupe persuasion. Assuming I’m not dependent on a car for work transportation...I wouldn’t mind having a Fairlady as a project car to eventually enjoy.

Wow sounds pretty awesome though! For me that’s one of the great things about certain cars, the engine note/exhaust note definitely adds to the atmosphere of the driving experience.

Wow, thank you for the detailed response! To be honest, I’ve just been looking for something exciting to own and yet something well within budget (under $10K to be specific) that I can just pay off within a short period of time.

Although that Volvo might be a tad smaller, it reminds me of my father’s wagon when I was a kid. He had an ‘82 Chevy Impala wagon and that thing was HUUUUUUGE. Granted I was really small, but even at my current height...it’s a massive vehicle. Awesomely so! It really felt like a land yacht.

That Fairlady Z is one of those dream cars I’d love to own, would make for an awesome project/restomod but pretty tough to find at a price point I can live with lol

Haha! I feel your pain, Android/Firefox is terrible for here, I’ve had better luck with Android/Chrome though. Also that restomod is awesome!

What’s your take on the RSX-S? I’m actually trying to decide between that and a Cobalt SS and am curious about it!
