Can I nominate my own little Alfa? At around $2500 it was cheap and it has an awesome sound and lovely pops and crackles on the overrun thanks to the LPG. Cat removed and just a rear damper. Love me some 4 cyl boxer sounds :)

America and it's concept of small. I think in an American English dictionary small is defined as 1 size under XXL. ;)
Damn learned about a new car today, hurray Jalopnik. Just because it's cool looking I voted nice price.
Interesting, i've never heared of this in Europe. We do get Winter-Diesel because regular diesel will otherwise cause parafin residue blocking the fuelfilter when temperatures drop. But winter gasoline?
Volcano's are yellow???
Bugatti truck, proved itself in the Saharah desert.
Didn't know about this one. Must be sweet, the montreal V8 (especialy when converted to carbs sounds sooooo freaking sweet.) There also was a Alfetta Turbodelta (a 4-cyl turbocharged engine). And I think Callaway in the US also bolted 2 turbo's on some V6's Alfettas
I think it is actualy highly unlikely that Fiat spends millions developing an affordable brand new platform / engine /chassis and sell only 3.500 for around 60k. That would be pretty retarded from an economic point of view.
I'm pretty sure it's 3.500 per year and not total.. Read that somewhere on a dutch site. First reviews are dripping on the net (topgear UK has one on the site) Generaly they like the handling and cornering and overall feel of the car but the don't like the engine (flat at the top and turbo lag and the gear box is not…
Allright clean it up. Paint it black. Keep it low. Big engine.. En this has the makeings of a great hot rod? Or am I wrong?
I love the shape of the thing!
This is what I like about Jalopnik as an European: I get to learn stuff about American cars I had no idea existed...
This one for instance has some awesome looks! (kinda reminds me of a Opel Manta).
I actualy get the feeling the driver (or do you call it a pilot?..) isn't a regular driver? Seems to me a skilled tank driver would have gotten it done faster? Anyways how about some DAF offroad action? (starts at 1:45)
This looks a lot better then last series! I think the concept of Top Gear is starting to get a little stale the last few years but then again that happens to almost every show after 20 seasons! Bring it on! I just hope Top Gear is the first that gets to test the Alfa 4C.
The whole point of a timing chain is so you never have to replace it.. The whole engine has to come out to replace a chain! The old 4 cyl Nord engines from Alfa for instance had a beafy chain that never fails. And the problem with the GM engine is not so much the power or torque per se but the way it is delivered…
No, you don't have te replace the timing belt.. But instead a lot of owners of a Alfa-fied GM v6 have to replace the timing chain after ~100.00 km... So yeah it's a turd in a nice dress..
It's a shame the 3.2 GM V6 is such a turd of an engine compared to the old Alfa Busso V6.. That GM engine is a disgrace to Alfa... If you want a Brera you should opt for the 5 cyl. 2.4L Diesel engine (can't believe I advise a diesel over a petrol v6....) Also the Brera is really to heavy, the 159 had the same…
I'm no fan of a lot of 70's 80's and 90's American cars, but this is actualy a really nice, clean looking coupe I never heared of. NP! And you gotta love those 80's digital dashboards, you were the man back in the days with one of those!
Jalopnik is so educating
I'm not really familiar with the rules in the US. But correct me if I'm wrong: If it's 25 years or older you are allowed to import a car / engine into the US withouth environmental rules/restrictions?
The Alfa boxer is very compact yet powerfull and it is one of the best sounding 4 cyl engines (I know, I'm on my…
It's easy really. It needs an Alfa Romeo Boxer engine. Either a 1.7 8V fuel injected or even better with 2 double webers. That's good for about 120 hp. Or even better a 1.7 16V with webbers good for about 140 hp. And it's been done before!
And even better about this is.. This particular bathtub is powered by a DAF engine ;)
