X-Men always spoke to me as being superheroes who were “othered”, which as a nerdy kid who didn’t have a social clique to call my own, seemed relatable. I imagine members of the LGBTQ community felt something similar though in a different way than I experienced it, in many ways more strongly than I did. That X2 had a

I mean, yes? Celebrating queerness is great, but Singer’s sexual abuse is perhaps not the expression of queerness that is worth celebrating?

I know Cumming has said he had a bad experience making this movie, and it’s a damn shame because he was an amazing Nightcrawler. The kindness, the sensibility, the spirituality...and the opening in the White House was such a cool use of his powers.

I don't know if streaming numbers are being counted properly. I watch Dr who on a shared Disney account. We all watch it individually. I don't know if that counts as 3 views or one. But I have to say, I've been a fan since I was a child watching the 4th -7th doctors on repeats on PBS in Boston and then fell in love

Why?

She’s not being replaced by the new companion, although she might be more of a recurring companion in the next series. I don’t see the comparisons to Rose either. She’s more self assured than Rose was and has a life outside the Doctor. Aside from her mother and grandmother she has friends. Rose only really had her mum

Regardless of your feelings for Ruby, she’s a one season companion so you won’t have to deal with her much longer. They’ve been filming the next season with Varada Sethu from Andor replacing her - https://variety.com/2024/tv/global/doctor-who-millie-gibson-varada-sethu-1235880343/

The numbers have been in stead decline for the last several seasons, but viewership figures have been dropping for everything across the board because people just don’t watch TV live as it airs anymore. Given that the new series is now available a full day earlier to anyone who *doesn’t* watch it on BBC1, the numbers

well, i’m way way WAY over that demographic, and i’m enjoying the hell out of this season.

Also kind of weird to see 5.6 million viewers referred to as bad.

In fairness to Davies and based on my own observations (two teenaged children and various 20-30 coworkers), the kids AREN’T watching much scripted TV these days.

It’s like pulling teeth to get my daughter to watch anything other than 22 minute anime episodes. Even then, she sometimes acts put-upon to tear herself away

I haven’t been keen on this season (besides the two leads, who I think are very good), but there was absolutely no way Disney was expecting Star Wars level numbers for Doctor Who. It’s a reasonably well known but minor series in the US. Also, Disney only puts in a portion of the budget, a budget which in full is maybe

It’s definitely Richard E Grant. It has been confirmed by RTD.

Random thoughts:

I really liked this episode BECAUSE it was classic no-frill Doctor Who. Historical period + Cheesy Aliens. Everything else was gravy.

I was so busy being thrilled and gobsmacked that The Doctor was being so openly flirty with the Rogue that i didn’t even expect them to actually (spoiler) kiss. But when they did, HOO BOY — their chemistry was so palpable, and i was Here. For. It. Happy Pride, y’all!

Definitely got big “Captain Jack Harkness 2.0" vibes from Rogue - both are queer male characters played by gay American actors (or in Barrowman’s case, Scottish-American) who have time traveled and met the Doctor in “the past” and who clearly have morals a little more loose than the Doctor, but are ultimately heroes.

Very cool review, except ... I’ve only seen this trailer so far, which seems to feature Hemsworth a lot. But “his accent is weird” seems a strange reading of an Australian actor in an ultra-Australian saga by an Australian director.

I have no idea what you’re smoking, but Anya Taylor-Joy is anything but plain jane looking.

So hyped to see this, I bought two tickets for opening weekend — IMAX, then 4DX. I’m doing my part to save movies!
