My personal goal in debate is not necessarily mutual agreement but rather advancement of knowledge and thinking (hopefully for both parties but at least one).

At last year's Concorso, BMW debuted their Concept Ninety bike to celebrate 90 years of motorcycle production. This year's bike is decidedly more modern — much like the BMW i8 in design.
The idiot light probably wasn't on. He shifted into first but it didn't engage, so he was effectively "between" first and neutral. Regardless, he should have realized he wasn't in gear.
