My state hasn't always worked so hard to rival Florida for dumbest headlines due to vile people. What happened to ya, Michigan?

I, too, have done that after watching a horror movie, but never had a name for it. Thank you. I am going to run with your phrase now.

Sorry, but for an honor that focuses on celebrity, circus folk trump all. Perhaps I am less jaded about circus people though since we only had fellow students talk at my high school graduation.

Did not realize that, thanks for pointing it out. I still stand by the fact women were not protected from abusive men most places in 1808 though.

I believe this was actually in reference to any sex happening. Being forced into marriage is terrible, but in 1808, it was pretty common everywhere. Being forced to treat your wife like a human was not. Check out the origin of "rule of thumb" and tell me that kind of protection doesn't seem pretty great by comparison.

This was when I fell in love with him. I somehow missed when he was announced as the new Daily Show correspondent, but so thrilled he will be on regularly in the US!

See, and when Gossip Girl was on whenever anyone talked about Blair, all I could think about was an incredibly handsome man.

You are THE.BEST. Such an eloquent way to summarize how I feel.

It is all about turnout. It is why Dems held the Senate in 2012 and Obama was reelected. Here in MI we have 200K more registered Dems than Republicans, but when they don't turn out, we get another term of Snyder. Thankfully the GOP Senate candidate was so terrible even the party could not support her.

Ironically, they will probably stay alive forever because of ACA :-/

The only real concern is if a liberal SCOTUS justice wants to step down (looking at you Ginsberg). Congress can now block anyone halfway decent

Thank the Koch brothers for your red state, I have them to thank for a candidate who was defeated in my district. She ran only on individual donations, no PACs- not even her own party. She was gaining major points in a historically red area, so major all the Koch PACs dumped a ton of money here the last few weeks and

I agree. Dems had their big wave in the middle of Bush's last term and lost it by 2010, the tide will turn again. I am more concerned about matters on the state level in places like MI (where I live), FL, etc where they have one party controlling House, Senate, and Gov- that can get frightening. I just hope that none

There is actually a huge debate going on here about a proposed homeless shelter that would operate only in the winter. Of course, certain city residents don't want it in their "backyard" (it would be a half block down the alley from my place, blocks from all the people who are claiming it as their backyard). Traverse

Yeah, Northern Express even revisited it again maybe a year or two ago. I think local print news runs articles every couple years just to update the new waves of people moving to the area so they know what's going on.

I must find this book!

I live in Traverse City- the town where Madonna's brother is a well known homeless man and her family owns a vineyard. He is well known to people in town and clearly has mental issues. This is an old story here because the family has actually tried to help him so many times and every time he goes off again he attacks

While Wait Till Helen Comes is waaay better, I got really excited when I read this headline. I only ever read one Christopher Pike book and this was it. I got it from the library when I was in junior high (7th grade?) to check Pike out. I read it in one night, basked in the soapy goodness, then never read another one.

No, there seems to be an Apple title I missed in the Scholastic flyer. I will have to check it out!

Theoretical kids are the reason I still have The Dollhouse Murders, Wait Till Helen Comes, and my collection of original Nancy Drews! I highly recommend checking out abebooks.com as well. Lots of book lovers and bookstores use it as a market place so you can usually find older books at a reasonable price and in good
