I am a lapsed Catholic myself and was scared off all religion for a while. I have been trying out my local Episcopal church. Very open mind, very friendly. I liked the UUs as well, but the Episcopalians were a nice blend of traditional feel with modern thinking.

It is not cynical, it is practical. I live in MI and have to say that is my experience as well. Also, it is this time of year people who were couples over the winter break up and the dating pool is exciting until the weather gets cold and people begin to layer and pair off again.
