I had a 95 LT1 9c1 that was horrible in the snow, but then a 96 that was equipped the same (neither with G80 diff) and it was awesome. Tires make a world of difference.
Look for police packages. They'll be a bit more abused than a soccer mom's kids would do, and fairly stripped down, but you'll be guaranteed to have the 5.3 V8. Also, 03+ is the way to go. Better seats and no mechanical fan sucking the power down. I love my 05 z56!
Thank you for saying exactly what I was thinking!
A few years before I owned my first of 3 LT1 9c1's, I was in Chicago, about '98 with some friends from college and a professor at a convention. We went out of the way for dinner one night which necessitated a cab. The driver was under the belief that the accelerator was "binary" in so much that they were either flat…
I was wondering the same sort of thing...what's the tranny and final drive gearing for both? Granted, FWD tends to be numerically higher, but it would be interesting to compare.
That is a seriously awesome video. Thank you for finding a way for me to now kill my downtime this Friday with ultracap videos!
Kind of reminds me of my ride around the 'ring in an 04 rental Mercedes E320...with M+S tires...
Aren't most marketing campaigns tacky?
If you compare the F-150 platform to the Silverado platform (including GMC) Ford has only recently taken the crown. The marketing callout really refers to brand, which only marketing cares about; trying to make perception become reality. If you look at total corporate sales numbers for the platform, GM has usually had…
Worst experience by far was San Francisco/SFO. Beautiful airport, but their TSA line somehow allows for oh, about 300+ people on the middle of a Friday. They had to start calling people out that were boarding in the next HOUR. They should have those amusement park lines that tell you how long it will take from where…
I second that motion. That (and to be honest the Ford vans) is one of the most comfortable platforms to ride in, spacious, good power, etc. and for the size, a pretty nice ride on the highway. My dad had a 2000 for about five or so years and even with the 4.3 V6, it was still a respectable ride you didn't mind…
Great run; nice to see some pushrod LS ring ownership. And a well done video to boot.
If you're accounting for miles of use in a year, this is going to weigh heavily towards drilling equipment or that mondo platform that moves the space shuttle and creeps along at inches per mile. Most measurements of cost/units is going to reduce the fixed costs towards zero as the units increase. So if the vehicle in…
That would make the AF1 program a 1.5 billion dollar annual budget. I don't know if that's correct of not, but that per hour cost could be a calculation based on its typical usage. It likely has a low utilization rate compared to a regular aircraft, thus a higher cost per hour.
A few years back a friend from a regional forum had his 94 Camaro inspected at some local chain shop. Real last minute thing. To the best of his knowledge, there was nothing that should fail. They tell him that he's got a hairline crack in his headlight or similar and he'll fail because of it. Everyone on the forum…
Spent a week near Andover about seven years ago and I still remember being told to stay out of Lawrence. It's the Poughkeepsie of Massachusetts.
I don't know if I'd really consider it a completely electrical fire, most of those front end flames are coming from the tires and vehicle.
It's not a bad idea, but they should just start a youtube channel and it'll be just as effective. There's a lot of really good videos out there explaining how to fix a number of common problems. I'm not saying they're all perfect, but video would work fine and cost them a heck of a lot less.
I wonder if that isn't deliberate on Chevrolet's part, to keep it in the 12 second range to allow for casual drag racing without requiring significant modification. Some examples (from a 2012 reg book I found) 11.49 and slower on street tires keeps you out of driveshaft loops, although slicks won't; 11.49 and under…
