I’m wondering, all other factors being equal, how far away from the ideal does your weight have to be before it stops being “low self esteem” and starts being “your body is wrong”.

Wouldn’t this be a good argument for why a certain “beauty” standard is actually useful? Amy Schumer is in no way an “ugly” person. But there are plenty of people in this country who are overweight or obese to the point where it is a legitimate medical issue, and not one of what is perceived as beautiful.…
And yet you still complain that the owner of that lot didn’t take all of your wishes into account when disposing of his property. Maybe your neighbors find your home unsightly, and are aghast at the many rural pests which you have allowed to flourish on your property, which will soon be migrating to bother them.…
Everything you’re talking about is a legal obligation, not a moral obligation. If I’m a book publisher, while I have no legal obligation to print books I disagree with, I do have a moral obligation as a facilitator of speech to respect the right of everyone to have access to the same infrastructure that spreads…
None of this is relevant, because it’s all a straw man argument.
They don’t have a moral obligation to be unbiased, either. Your conservative brethren on the Supreme Court made it very clear in the Hobby Lobby case that businesses are allowed to function with the rights of individuals; in other words, the implication is that they have no moral obligation to do anything. It’s like…
Because bias in one of the biggest platforms for speech in the world is fine if it benefits you.
The US willingly backed Saddam’s regime, sold him chemical weapons, and turned a blind eye to many of his attrocities when it was convenient.
It’s not a troll. That you are so unwilling to face the self-evident moral and legal reasons to intervene in Iraq speaks poorly to your intelligence.
Haha says the 15 year old, I’m sure.
I never said “we should never go to war.”
How does anybody deserve war?
That wasn’t the reason for the Iraq war though,
How the fuck was firing on coalition troops after the invasion a reason for the war?
I have a genuine question.
Saddam was an asshole, and the world’s a better place without him. But your description of him also fits Dick Cheney just fine - that administration’s got a LOT of blood on their hands. Doesn’t make Saddam any less of an asshole, but it doesn’t make them any more angels. They should be hanging from the same gallows.
Thank goodness we’ve applied the same standard to Burma, Sudan, Chile, etc.
Maybe you’re not quite old enough to be lecturing other people about their memories.
You know what?
There are lots and lots of corrupt regimes around the world that we nevertheless decide not to invade every single day. And for good reason: corruption is not a just cause for a war.
