I just looked it up to be sure and apparently we’re both wrong, instead it’s a points system with points awarded to the top fifteen, in exactly the same amounts as the finishing positions.
If I remember correctly, BMW give a car to whichever MotoGP rider gains the most pole positions through the season, as well as providing the safety cars. So BMW already has a connection and history of giving cars as prizes to bikers.
