Can you explain how? I’m using Picasa + Google Earth to manually Geotag photos. I usually know where I took them though.

I think if you geotag them, it will mark them as Trip to XYZ or similar and make the album / collections.
I don’t think it will create an album with photos clicked in your daily life because there’s not much context to that?

Well yes, I’ve been looking for a long term backup solution and just can’t find one. Backing data to 2x hard drives + Flickr + Google is the only solution I see, and Google Photos is the only one that makes categorization / face searching easy.

I had photos from 2010 that I have never deleted, and this includes burst photos on a DSLR.

A warning though. You might be locked out of your account if you aren't saving the authentication system somewhere or back them up. My friend lost his phone, terminated the phone number, and then didn't have access to his gmail account.
Never had to deal with such issues. On the plus side, 90 day insurance on anything you buy or 12 months extended warranty? I'll take it.
