I normally disbelieve a high percentage of anecdotes I read on the Internet, but this sounds like something a cop would be comfortable saying. Doubly so with LAPD.

Why am I not surprised that ex-LAPD’s first response is to threaten violence.

Did he think he was smart when completely ignoring the consequences of the two actions? If someone slows at a stop sign and rolls through when there’s no other traffic, there is zero difference made to anyone. If someone doesn’t stop bludgeoning you, they can kill you.

Or people could actually take the extra 2 seconds and stop.

Well, I haven’t been in that area in a long time, other than passing through it. But when I did spend some time there, in 1972-73, it was pretty bad. It seemed like a better choice than saying “The Old West End of Toledo”, as not very many people know how bad some parts of it are and have been.
