The U.S. never declared war on North Korea, so I’m a bit unsure where the “technically” part of your statement comes from. If we are being pedantic, we should really try and be pedantic.

Tis a mere “police action.”

In 2004 or so, I flew Dublin to JFK and it was pre-clearance in Dublin. Duty-free is overrated, but apparently was a good deal for Russian vodka back in the early 1980s.

Hah! The subtleties of conversation lost once again on the internet. Yeah, I’ve flown Aer Lingus many times, nearly 40 years ago the first time. They had no fancy pre-boarding customs at that time. But I did remember the Aeroflot pilots stocking up on vodka in the duty free shops in Shannon.

Aer Lingus? What is that the ultimate in safe sex?

I lived in St. Louis for many years, notably during the Ashcroft years. That neocon neanderthal three times vetoed Sunday liquor sales when he was governor despite both houses of the legislature passing a law removing the Sunday ban. Fortunately, the solution was just a bridge hop away. I am sure as hell glad Illinois

Witness Walmart making a big PR push regarding low-level bonuses while simultaneously shutting down 65 or so Sam’s Club stores with zero notice to employees. Simultaneous. That’s cold-blooded.

Tax deferred, not tax free. As soon as you withdraw from your 401k, you will get taxed. Presumably this comes after you stop working, so likely at a lower tax rate. Still, that’s definitely a nice bonus.

Fair enough, but how much of that ink is above the collarbone or below the wrist and how many visible piercings/body mods do you have?

I should just stop and say: It was a joke, meant to amuse and poke a bit of fun at people who don’t always weigh the consequences of decisions made at a young age when raging against

Not surprisingly, they also have always meant, “No, I do not wish to ever have a legitimate job with advancement opportunities.”

Does anyone know if Chris Chelios is available?

Belle got jobbed of the MVP, for sure in ‘95, possibly other years. Except for what seemed like the annual suspension for some sort of stiff arming or fighting, he never missed a game until his last couple of years. But a true throwback stud on the field.

Well, as Bakkster posted above, the actual term may be short, but the rate is supposed to be listed as an APR, emphasis on annual. The gimmick of the payday loan schemers is that the guy who borrows $50 or $500 more often than not does not have the money and interest to payback after those 30 days and then goes almost

That $50 is for one month, or 10%, annualized to 120%.

Very predatory and counter to most usury laws I am aware of.

Don’t you think she was smart enough to negotiate that before resigning? “I will resign, allowing you to save face, but you’ve got to give me my benefits.”

Oh, my. The definition of obtuse now includes asking why someone would call me a hipster asshole.

PS While it is very possible that I am an asshole (still not sure why, in this case, however), I am waaaaaay too old to be a hipster, nor could I ever pull off the clothes they wear.

Proving that she was complicit, even by inaction, might be a pretty massive stretch. Then again, the Penn State bosses are doing some serious time, so you may have a point.

Fair enough and point well taken, but the legislature cutting back on funding for the school is a far cry from people taking to the streets, if you will. Also, I’d love to see season tickets holders for MSU football take such a stand, but, realistically, hell would have to freeze over first. (And not Hell, Michigan.)

The only problem with Michigan legislators taking money away from MSU is that it punishes students who had nothing to do with Simon’s failings. And, most assuredly, Simon has an ironclad contract that will pay her big walking-away money when the time comes that she hightails it out of East Lansing.
