It wasn’t just Mercedes-Benz and the payoff would have been to Congress, likely through some manufacturers’ lobby, and not the EPA, so that they changed the law.

The EPA’s involvement is just part of that law. They are just carrying out the mandate required of them by Congress.

Harry Hogge said it, not that kid who learned to race by watching ESPN.

Did I miss something in the original article? Is MV August filing for bankruptcy under U.S. law somewhere? Are they literally filing for Chapter 11 protection?

Sorry, just curious.

I believe the technical term used by the F&I guys is “whacking the customer on the back end.”

With the gross profit per car approaching zero on the sale, it’s the insurance, credit insurance, extended warranties and oceans of BS offered by the F&I guys that make the dealerships money. Oh, and used cars. The gross is

Credit unions really are the salve to the pain that the banking industry unleashes upon the common man.

Tyler,

Honest question here: When the Air Force announces that we are bombing so much and giving away/“loaning” bombs to foreign allies and that we need to produce more, how much of that is propaganda that you are repeating?

Again, this is an honest question. We are an insanely armed country in terms of war materiel.

Because we are better than them? Because we claim to value human life? Because we have been the champions of justice and liberty for over 200 years? Because we should put our money where our mouths are?

Why not bring your own financing, as in paying all cash or by having your own bank or credit union financing in place?

In my experience, it always goes much, much faster that way, since there is no chance of them pushing credit insurance on you, among the many other products they sell to reap profits from you.

Brown, diesel, manual-transmission wagons from Europe for everyone!*

Well, the Mafia are known to keep their money in the Swiss banks and probably moreso now that the Vatican bank is cleaning up its act. Corrupt Italian politicians, too.

I think that was his point.

Hahhaaaa!!! My Italian friend believes Germans are not tourists, but “users,” as in, they visit other countries to use them and then return home.

I am guessing that there are plenty of Greeks, Cypriots and Spanish who might agree in recent years. And it’s gone beyond tourism there.

I should add that my Italian friend

Well, as much as this advice is correct 90-something percent of the time, let me chime in.

But the White House had it printed.

Except the 6 Series sedan is a “Grand Coupe” in BMW speak these days, which means it has four doors and looks stunning, but like most modern coupes, has terrible headroom for the rear seat passenger, just like the CLS. I am not sure about the S7, but that car certainly looks the business.

The 5 GT? The only thing nice about it, much like the Aztek, is that it has more practical and usable space than a 5 Series sedan. Also, because it’s actually based on the 7, it has lots of rear-set leg room, but, it’s really only a four seater— a la a GT car. The back seats recline quite a bit and are really

With the proliferation of taxis that take credit and debit cards, the volumes of cash they carry have gone down in recent years. Let’s hope that the criminals take note and back off. It shouldn’t have to be a dangerous job, but being out at all hours, alone, with some loose money rolling around makes them a target.

Uh, no, the 5 Series Gran Turismo (their words, not mine, I assure you) is much more the BMW Aztek. Much more. And far more deserving of execution and being purged from the Earth.

People who build walls?

Well, not really. A guy got rejected for being a cop in New London, Connecticut because his IQ was too high. He sued—and lost. And New London’s best days, unfortunately, are far behind it. No comment on their police force. Instead I will leave this:

Huh? How about, don’t be an asshole who clearly isn’t in control of his vehicle (TrailBlazer?) and shouldn’t be tailgating anyone?
