Yep. They’re enthralled with design in abstract, when it can be anything you want. They can’t adapt that readily to designing for someone who will actually wear it.

It’s one thing to have anxiety about not having experience designing for plus-sized women, it’s another thing entirely to have an openly contemptuous attitude about it. Nadine needed to go home based on her attitude alone.

I was going to say. I’m a size 16 and I still don’t understand why the muted colors and loose flowy cuts that I love in “regular” women’s clothing can’t translate. Why do plus size designers think I want to be covered head to toe in loud flower prints with glue on gems spelling PARIS across the boobs or some shit? Is

1. That outfit is fucking hideous and would look awful on anyone.

I remember a long time ago several of the designers actually making their models cry because they were plus sized. If you can’t dress a plus size woman, then you shouldn’t be a designer- that’s on you. Also, Siriano is the best thing to come out of Project Runway- (ok aside from Tin Gunn and Santinos hilarious

I’m plus size AND fun size (5'1") and prefer to dress in all black - think vaguely rectangular Wednesday Addams. That said, when I do contemplate a foray into print and color, the variety I’m offered is cheetah or zebra in every conceivable color combination. It’s like camouflage if you’re going on safari in some Lisa

I was *so* glad they called her out for what she was saying about her model on the runway. She had absolutely no respect for her model and the way she spoke to/about her made me want to throw things.

Exactly what I came here to say. They don’t want models, they want clothes-hangers whose bodies won’t touch the fabric between shoulder & floor. And really, I think anyone could design an outfit like that - it’s basically 2-D.

It’s all about the central priority. A designer’s goal should be to bring out the unique best in the person wearing their clothing, as Siriano does. The wannabes who whine about being asked to dress non-skinny women don’t care about that, they see the people wearing their clothes, if they see them at all, as

One of the issues is that a lot of designers, especially young designers, aren’t designing with the customer in mind. They have a concept in their head and the customer either conforms to it or doesn’t. Their fit models are essentially clothes hangers for their vision, no pesky curves to get in the way (and, I say

The last like, 7 seasons of RPDR when the sewing challenge comes up and someone’s like “I’ve never actually used a sewing machine!”  C’MON, PEOPLE NOW!

Mm, I think when you’re a student or young designer applying to be on this show, you really don’t bother yourself with the details. Imagine being desperate and applying for this amazing job - are you going to pad your resume and exaggerate your skills and experience? Sure. Are you going to sweat the possibility that

This is always mystifying to me. It’s like someone who gets onto the Amazing Race, then halfway through admits they don’t know how to drive stick shift. Like, you *knew* this was coming, it’s been a feature in basically every other season, why is the idea of dressing someone with actual boobs such a goddamn surprise?

I get that it might be a shift in perspective to design for “plus-size” models. Perhaps it’s not what they’re used to doing with their eyes closed. But Project Runway is supposed to stretch designers and see what they can do outside of their comfort zone. Further, the show has been pretty intentional it seems in

Nadine saying that she couldn’t put her “plus-size” model in a bold print made me want to die.

Seriously people, it’s season 16. Even if you have never made clothes for other sizes before, don’t you think you’d work on that before you go on a reality show? It’s really sad that designers are more comfortable making an outfit out of batteries and dryer lint than they are making a wrap dress for a size 12 woman.

If you take on the burden, and that is what it seems to be, of being Nene’s friend, as Cynthia has done, don’t pretend like you don’t know she is mean and self-centered and expects fealty and, in this case, at least a head’s up that Kenya may be at the party.

Once I called my previous insurance provider to make sure an annual STI test was covered as a part of my yearly gyno check up - it was not! I was annoyed, and the woman on the other end of the line coughed delicately and said that “in [her] day, [she] hadn’t *needed* one”. Fuck her and fuck United health insurance.

I feel like there are no comments on this post because this is one thing everyone agrees on. He’s guilty and horrible and all our hearts go out to her and all his victims.

If you are part of the “ hook- up culture” ( NO judgment) then rapid HIV tests at every PP/ Urgent Care are your best friend. I have found that STI’s are increasing bc it’s that whole boning in the moment without knowing someone last name ( last names help to do digging to do some character unsurfacing of someone )
