Neither is exactly difficult. In one case, you tap a back button you already have your fingers wrapped over. The other, you move your thumb over slightly.
Only major difference is the new controller would mean you'd never need to move you thumbs away from anything important.
They can be mapped for buttons and work as a touchpad still. Who says it can only do one at a time? He does so in the demo. I haven't seen or heard any to state otherwise. Hard to say until we get are hands on one.
