sales dropped because of the economy, interest rates, and manual models are not that widespread yet....

If they’d had it 3 years ago, I might have bought it.  Since then, inflation/etc has whacked the value of the take-home, and I can’t afford a new toy.  And it’s just a toy.  

The manual is what killed Supra killed sales, but it’s all Toyota’s fault. Once the manual was announced, a lot of potential Supra buyers (myself included) decided that was the one to have, but they’re hard to come by. You either wait, which would be an unrealized sale on Toyota’s part, pay markup for the limited…

Some people don’t care about paper performance? Your car is only as fast as YOU are, a few tenths on paper doesn’t mean jack shit, either on the street or on the track, unless you put down pro level consistent laps. Which, if you did, you wouldn’t have bought the Supra.

I recall reading somewhere they dropped also, but not as drastically (? maybe like ~13%)

They can afford to build their own Supra. We know they can make awesome, non-boring cars. The LC and LFA prove that.

It was too little, too late. Should have had a manual from day 1. It was NEVER going to be a big seller, it’s ugly and not a Toyota, but every little bit would have helped.

This. People looking for a new Supra were not looking for a BMW Z4, even if it is quite good.

What do you mean hurr durr is a BMW. It IS a BMW. The engine is BMW. The chassis is BMW. It’s built in the same factory as a BMW. Its VIN tag has a BMW logo on it.

Too many car people got caught up in the “hurr durr is a BMW achtually” memes when this came out to take it seriously, which is unfortunate.
