But can’t you just transfer money from saving to checking whenever you want, and withdraw from the other account? My bank lets me do that. Also, who withdraws cash anyway?

I can’t withdraw from savings. I transfer to checking if I need actual money. But I never withdraw cash or spend from my bank account. Everything goes on credit, and that gets payed from the account online.

It’s habit from when Savings actually meant something. The difference in interest rates now is negligible, but it used to be worth while keeping as much in savings as possible, and to some extent it still is, basically ~1 free lunch per month.

But why would you ever keep 3-5 weeks of expenses in checking? I’ve got maybe 3 days in there, tops, at any point, and move money from savings when it’s needed.

It’s the perfect 2 car garage.

If the full Soul lineup is still available (with the Turbo model) then this works.
