I was in junior high when the movie came out, so it’s not really a classic from my childhood. BUT I was born soon after the Jumanji picture book by Chris Van Allsburg was published (1981), and THAT was a classic from my childhood.

So... You’ve never heard of Jonas Salk?

What?! Someone who uses the phrase “feminist-leaning man hater” has difficulty satisfying his wife in bed? SHOCKER.

I replied to the first comment to this article with some arguments re how the tweet is sexist. Hope this is helpful!

Njal’s Saga also has several good ones. E.g., Skarphedin says to Thorkel, “You would be better employed picking out of your teeth the bits of mare’s ass you ate before you came here—your shepherd saw you at it and was amazed at such disgusting behavior.”

I don’t want to degenerate into a discussion about sexual technique, but...one can, and many do, to much acclaim. We could be more specific, though. Why isn’t “suck my clit!” a common idiom? (See above how sexual dominance and femininity are generally treated as incongruous in our language and society.)

I don’t think there’s any assertion here that sexual dominance is inherently negative. On the contrary, I think the tweet reflects the general *positive* connotation of sexual dominance. Where you can argue it’s problematic is that it reinforces the perception that sexual dominance is connected with masculinity.

True, it’s not sexist in the sense that “suck my dick” doesn’t necessarily assume that the target is a woman.

However, it IS sexist in that it reflects pervasive male privilege in associating power, achievement, and victory with male anatomy and male sexual dominance.

Does that mean the world is falling down? No. You

I'd agree that *Stalinism* and Nazi fascism are both so bad it doesn't make sense to get into a pissing contest about which is worse. (Just stubbornly sticking to the point that Soviet history, despite major problems throughout, is not entirely reducible to Stalinism.)

How about the Trail of Tears, Small pox blankets, nuclear testing on native Alaskans, and, oh yes, slavery? The U.S. is responsible for some horrible human rights abuses, and many would argue that the legacy continues.

OK, it seems that the Cook Inlet Tribal Council was the force behind the game, but it's about Inupiaq culture, which is from the opposite side of the state. Great opportunity to learn more about the communities of the North Slope Borough! If you can, take a trip up to Barrow. It's a wonderful community.

Wait, can you clarify? The Inupiat are based in northern Alaska. South Central Alaska is subarctic: snowy and cold in the winter, but not particularly frigid.

"freaks, bitches, f*ck your mother"

Now that's what I call a "Jew Harp." Because...you know...horns, right?

...crickets...

Come on! Ok, that was pretty bad. But I'm Jewish, so it's okay, right?
