That's right, buddy. All but a small handful of the PS1 classics available on PSN and a nice selection of PSP games (although lamentably no Valkyrie Profile) will play on your Vita.

Considering that PSP emulators don't even run properly on my gaming PC, I'm going to remain skeptical.
Heck, it has FF 1-10!
See, I was very incredulous when the Vita was first released. I thought it was the most ridiculous concept for a handheld ever. As it gradually evolved into a more modest, indie-focused machine with a strong backlog of compatible PSP and PS1 games, I decided to give it a go. These days, I daresay it's my most-played…
The Toy Story films have never resonated as much with me as with others. The central fiction of the series is hard to immerse myself in because I didn't have many toys as a kid other than Legos, which were for me tools to construct my own world rather than combine elements of a corporately constructed one. Action…
True that. But eww! Touchscreen controls.
Your iPhone is probably more powerful than the Vita too! But you sure as heck can't play Persona on it.
You'll never see this post because it will be pending forever, but nice post! I'm really pumped for Natural Doctrine and Freedom Wars as well. I've long been a Vitavangelist—hopefully my efforts will be worth it
I was hoping you would talk about your experience with the game, Jason. English writing quality? All JRPGs from this era suffered in this area—especially those published by Sony. Also, what's with that garish color scheme for the text boxes?
What means did you all use to play this? Sega CD, PS1, or PC emulation? I wanted to participate but didn't have the time this week :(. Also, this game is getting pretty pricy. Why don't they release it on PSN already?
Hmm. I wonder the same. It certainly would have made for better loading times! I like to get my PS3 games digitally these days anyway. I have a super slim outfitted with an SSD.
Actually, the PS3's problem in this regard is that the drive is so slow—it's not a fundamental problem of Blu-Ray media (of which, as you say, the Wii U uses a variant). The Wii U has a 5x drive whereas the PS3's is only 2x.
I would imagine it would be the Wii U's lack of a standard HDD that would present a problem. For a huge, open world game, you can't just rely on data streaming from a disk—you have to stream from the hard drive as well (like with GTAV or Skyrim), hence the mandatory installations.
Interesting that they've aligned 360 closer to the current gen in their rhetoric...all three gen 7 consoles, however, share the commonality of being PowerPC based rather than x86 (just like the old Macs). The 360 is equally dissimilar to the current, x86 based machines.
Bringing Aeris back? Wouldn't that totally screw up the story though?
Just a note: Wal Mart is offering the 2DS with free case + $40 gift card.
I think Xenogears deserves a place on your list. Hear me out.
They named him Edge Maverick. Edge Maverick! And not ironically!
This should be pretty obvious to most, but the Wii U is roughly twice as powerful as the XBOX 360 in terms of graphics processing and RAM.
I don't like the "clickiness" of the 3ds d-pad either. Why couldn't they just put a NES D-pad on it?
