The only reason people in the video game media are trading blows over the Wii U with absolutist, black and white opinions and grandiose statements is because it attracts a lot of attention from gamers and increases the traffic through their websites. It's refreshing to see someone write a little more ambivalently.

Actually, the Wii U's real window of opportunity is not 2013—it's 2014, when Sony's and XBOX's next consoles have been released and people undergo their obligatory show of skepticism and scoffing at high price tags. Then the Wii U, which will have many of the same next-generation third-party releases, and already

Oh god yes. The 3DS is now an unstoppable force. It's easily my favorite handheld of all time. As for Wii U, I think by the time PS4 and the next XBOX actually release, Nintendo's console will already have two things that the competitors lack: a small but very strong collection of exclusives (At least one Mario, at

I'm actually overwhelmed by how fantastic the 3DS library is compared to any other handheld since...the DS. I'm actually at the point where I'm playing it more than any other console I own...and I own like 15 consoles, including PS3, XBOX, Wii U, and a gaming laptop. Here's just a small list of some 3DS titles which

I feel that bullet hell shooters often place a little too much emphasis on memorization. Really good shooters strike a balance between memorization and reflexes. I think Ikaruga for one succeeds marvelously in this regard.

Okay, conceded. I'm just used to the way in which people refer to all NES games as "Nintendo games" regardless of who developed and/or published them. Also, there's the situation where Nintendo and Capcom, via some agreement, have made MH into a Nintendo-exclusive franchise. It's hard to deny that Nintendo must be

Haha nice point

Actually, MH3U on the Wii U will have all of the Western players (Americas and Europe) playing together. That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I won't particularly mind not playing with Japanese players since I wouldn't be able to communicate with them very well anyway.

That's only partially true—the 3DS can handle a fully-fledged MH title, because MH4 will be fully online and 3DS-exclusive. The problem is that they didn't take the time to make MH3U on 3DS compatible with the 3DS's own online capabilities. The game can be played online, but only in tandem with a Wii U.

Back in 2010 when I was neck-deep in Demon's Souls (one of my favorite games ever), a friend of mine recommended the MH series to me, commenting that it seemed very similar to Demon's Souls. Well, that game and its successor kept me occupied so long that I only recently had my first experience with the MH series

It's a game exclusively for a Nintendo console...so it's a Nintendo game. Also, Nintendo is the official distributor of MH Tri in PAL regions, so in a sense it is a Nintendo product.

Also, I don't think they mentioned the x86 CPU because it's some new powerful technology—they chose this type of CPU for the PS4 so that the console would be easier to program for. It's easy to program for precisely because it's an old, well-known technology rather than some bleeding-edge nonsense like the Cell

How much did your PC cost? No matter where you purchased the parts, they were sold at or above manufacturing costs. Consoles, however, are sold below manufacturing costs because the manufacturer expects to make their profits from game sales. The original PS3 cost more than $800 to manufacture, but was sold for $499.

It's the power of the "gameplay first" idea. So many people scoff at it, but it's hard to overlook the numbers.

I think the biggest draw to i(Phone/Pad) and Android gaming is that the games are dirt cheap. For many people, these cheap mobile games have served as a gateway into "gaming" itself—old people, housewives, thirty-somethings who "don't have time" for "serious" gaming. Others exclusively play free social networking

The controls on the 3DS demo are just as bad as on the PSP iterations of Monster Hunter, especially because the demo is incompatible with the circle pad pro. The full release will be compatible, but that doesn't help those of us who own 3DS XLs, since Nintendo has, for whatever reason, chosen not to release the XL

Remember, we're talking about Nintendo games here..."gameplay first"

That's not really possible considering that these screens are in HD...
