Agreed. Don’t blame the girl for the suspension. That’s the administration’s decision. She reported an incident, as she should. The school listened, as it should. Whether the offence warranted suspension is at the discretion of the administrators, and that’s where the racism comes in.

A white boy or a black girl would not be suspended in the same way. People view whiteness as morality, and femaleness as powerlessness; a white boy “doesn’t mean any harm” (even though he’s certainly capable of it if he stares hard enough, apparently), and a black girl is entirely incapable of harm (and everything

She’s a pretty well-established troll, fwiw.

The institution at fault is the school. The girl didn’t suspend anyone—the school did. Do you really need a single bad guy so much that you want to start calling a twelve-year-old names?

It’s easy to dismiss assholes like Warrior. :x

Bingo. Hamilton County. Serious, deeply historically embedded problems with racism.

Pretty sure this guy is trolling, just FYI.

She’s 12. Twelve year olds instigate. It’s the adults’ job to not be racist bullies.

Doesn’t matter. It can still be dehumanizing to the black body to see that. Some people make a choice not to see these pictures or the videos of black people being shot, we don’t need to see another black body being destroyed to believe it.

WTH is up with everyone on here like “I wonder what would have happened if person was x and the other was x” JFC this is racism. We all know it. The child was suspended because he’s black. Quit pretending like there’s some other fucking reason.

To be fair, staring contests can get pretty lethal. I once had someone head-butt me just to try and get me to blink. Teenagers are both not smart and super-competetive.

Sure, insult my family. That’s cool. No way I'd take offense at that or anything.

So is Ann Coulter fyi.

Seriously. That is not okay. People here have PTSD and that kind of trigger could be debilitating. What the actual fuck?

I agree, there can definitely be a sexually threatening context to staring. If that was the implication, though, you’d think they’d have just spelled it out. That’s what rings alarm bells to me.

Can you please put a trigger warning. Not everyone finds the images of dead black bodies titillating like white people do. Like would you just throw up an image of a white woman looking like that with no warning?

I believe the question you’re looking for is “would he have been suspended?”

Not an attack at all Ellie, and I apologizing for not making that clearer with my wording. I just appreciated having an insider account.
