Nah. She’s not perfect, nowhere near it. But she has loved and protected and ferociously defended that little boy from threats and predation that are too complex to really go into here. She has sheltered him from the deep, pitch-black malevolence of his father, and for that she gets a break right now. People can

Glad I’m not famous. Man, I’d make you cringe so hard you’d shit yourself. You lucky, lucky thing to have escaped such a fate.

Writing off a country of ten million people simply because of the actions of their government seems fairly short-sighted. Would you care to be held accountable for the shameful acts your own government is perpetrating? Or might the world be more complex?

Of course, one might say the same of your comments, if one cared to go through your history. One might say the same of all of our comments. Human beings are thirsty creatures.

And to you too, Lady B! I’ve missed your lovely face. xx

A story:

I have a soft spot for Lea Michele too. I mean, I’m pretty sure she can be a real pill sometimes. Of course she can. But I like that she’s ambitious and doesn’t hide that desire away behind ladylike modesty. I like that she’s upfront about her career goals. I think that’s great.

That’s certainly a valid explanation. Folks fearful for their lives don’t generally have the luxury of worrying about anything beyond the current moment. But that still leaves the question of why Latinos in particular seem to be so much more distressed by climate change than other ethnic groups. The thesis that their

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the context and insight.

Hispanics are more likely than whites and blacks to be angry about climate change (49 percent versus 39 and 28).

I think the one trait that misogynists (of any gender) find truly repulsive in women is ambition. It causes them authentic, stomach-tightening revulsion. The idea of a woman being open about what she wants her career to look like and visibly working hard for it seems to genuinely disturb them.

There is no way on god’s earth that Madonna works out to the extent she does without some serious salt-replenishment. It’s not biologically possible for human beings, no matter their age or how good they look. I don’t know who in this unholy trinity of mother-son-and-media is lying about that shit, but somebody is.

I appreciate you. Very much. Thanks for the good sense and generosity—it makes a gentle, quiet difference to lots of folks reading what you say here.

I’ve no bloody idea why Lucas thought it was a good idea to use it, but white slavery is a term with an even older etymology than that. It usually refers to the Barbary pirates who raided and carried off well over a million poor, working-class people living on the coast of the British Isles and the Iberian peninsula

I quote fom the article you cite:

Okay. Given that Obama made the Affordable Care Act the cornerstone of his presidency, and given that a vast number of African-Americans were among the previously uninsured, I’d say the Obama administration has been the engine behind significant improvements to African-American wellbeing. You can also add his

Super happy about all of these casting choices. Especially Jamie Parker as Harry! I’ve loved Jamie’s work ever since I first saw him play Scripps in The History Boys at the National Theatre way back in the dark ages of the last decade. He’s such a beautiful, tender, wry actor. He’s been toiling quietly in unflashy

Look on the bright side! If you’re tanning your skin that often, you may not have to worry about getting leathery or old.

Heyyyyy we got a real MacGyver here. I like your moxie. We should get coffee and eliminate toxins together sometime maybe.

It was really the hard science of describing the microbeads “soaking up toxins like a sponge” that tweaked my antenna. Cause I’m pretty sure that statement is very nearly content-free. Kinda delightful. Being a moron myself, I enjoy that serene dedication to brainlessness.
