I think the problem here is that everyone in the comments is fighting about three very different things without realizing it:
10/10 would daily.
I love lightweight manual ICE-powered cars as much as the next enthusiast. But after watching a bunch of youtube videos about this car from channels, it doesn’t look boring at all - it actually looks genuinely fun. I’d definitely like a go behind the wheel.
What I’m wondering is how the simulated noise, redline, gearing, and engine braking actually affect an individual’s lap times vs having everything in normal EV mode. Do the simulated features translate to better lap times because of the feedback it’s giving, allowing the driver to better gauge speed, shift points,…
Samesies!
Personally, I think the whole simulated ICE drivetrain thing that the Ioniq 5 N is doing is fucking awesome. It’s the first EV I’ve actually WANTED. If I could afford it, I’d buy one right this second.
I hope someone salvages and restores it.
One of the things I like about the Ioniq 5 N is that you get a choice. Want the car to feel like you’re driving a combustion driven car? It’ll simulate the sounds and the interruption in torque delivery that comes with gear changes. Want it to sound futuristic? It’ll do that, too. Want it to drive just like what it…

Oh hell yeah. Do this to all the skinny C6's.
Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving minivan.
Who cares? I drove some BMW EV that let you pick themes for the car. Each one had a unique acceleration synthesized sound. I thought it was pretty cool. If people want it to sound like an ICE, who TF cares?
As long as it’s an option that can be turned off, I’m all for it. Let your freak flag fly.
Price.
It actually gets worse, much worse for Charger EV paint colors. One of the offered colors will be Destroyer Grey—or as I call it: Glossy Primer Grey:
those amount due at signing are huge! phew.
I could never put 5k down on a lease.
You can probably buy that Vinfast for like a couple of hundred bucks when the lease is up.
During that investigation, it found that the company had sold about 14 of these kids to Moody Ford between 2019 and 2022, according to Automotive News.
I saw that when I was in Fairbanks a few years ago. A highlight of the trip (I was there for work). Amusingly, I was installing a VMware environment for U. Alaska’s research ship. In Fairbanks... :-)
