Jonny Smith’s Late Brake Show video on the car (also cited in the TH video) is absolutely worth a watch on its own. He had the opportunity to drive it before the recent restoration work and also lovingly strolls through a bit more of the original build process.

Hammond had a classic auto restoration shop as a side project, no idea if that’s still a going concern. His other shows tend to be short topical series on things like construction or science themes. Not bad, but more edutainment than entertainment.

I was extremely interested in buying an Aptera when they first came out of stealth mode and announced the vehicles. They weren’t really practical, but they were fantastically distinct, intended to be priced aggressively and the touted efficiency appealed to my inner stat nerd.

Super cool. I was able to see them working on restoring prototype #2 when I passed through the auto museum in Reno about ten years ago. It’s now on display in the main exhibition area somewhere if I recall correctly.
