Excellent analysis! I too thought Andrew’s character is too over the top to be completely believable. For example, when he receives the “gift” from Jeff, his attention getting theatrics belonged to someone a lot less intelligent than Cunanan must have been.

Andrew is obviously of high intelligence, so much so that his intelligence may be contributing to his mental illness (http://www.medicaldaily.com/why-smarter-people-are-more-likely-be-mentally-ill-270039). This makes him all the more a scary person.

To the mental health experts out in comment land: What is the condition of someone who has such illusions of grandeur that it leads them to murder? Is it a type of psychosis that is genetic or environmental?
