To be fair, the trucks also elicit an emotional response from the sort of goddam wieners who find driving a Super Duty truck to be some sort of validation of their masculinity. I work in a cube next to a person of this nature and... yeah, talk about a goddam wiener.

The Toyota Camry (especially V6 models). They are quick and ride just as well as a first or second gen Lexus LS. The transmission mapping is great. They are quite good in deep snow. They have cavernous interiors. They come standard with a dent in the corner of the rear bumper.

The GM J-body. 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen. Don’t care. Love them all for the little tin cans they are. Mine has been oddly lovingly cared for in its 31 years of life and I’ve continued that. It’s slow, old, shoddily built and somehow still…fun.

Another reminder that the malaise era lasted a lot longer than people think.

One does not buy a car like this because it is a Century, or an Accord, or anything else. One buys it because it will get you to school and/or work and you can pay cash for it. Put snow tires on it and drive around all of the SUVs with street tires in the ditch.

Wouldn’t get this for a kid. Airbag or not, this thing’s bones date back to the early 80s. I just can’t put my kid in something that knowingly puts him at a severe disadvantage in a crash. Just go a few years newer and it’s a much more modern car.

This is a good buy only for someone who literally cannot afford a better car and/or has no credit: A very young person with no parental support, recently arrived refugee, etc. For them this could be a lifesaver in terms of being able to get to work, etc. for a real price. But for anyone else, this is an antiquated,

This was the car I took my learner’s permits tests in.  I cant imagine how this car would fare in a small overlap crash...yeesh

The 2.2 isn’t called the Iron Duke, the 2.5 Tech4 is the ID.

I once drove one of these with the engine off its mounts for 4000 kms. It was totally fine! Or we were totally lucky!

These were completely horrid cars.  For the same money, you can get a newer Toyota or Honda that will be a far better car.

cheap transportation -yes

Back in 2003, we inherited Nana’s 1994 Pontiac 6000. It had 30K miles on the odo and we drove it for a year. When the thermostat died, I replaced in less than an hour. It was the last car I had that I could wrench.

Oh, that’s hideous, NP.

I have a feeling that this car could last for as long as dino-juice burning vehicles are allowed on the road. For whatever reason, someone took immaculate care of this thing. I think with minimal effort it could go another ten years.

This car may have outlasted three or more old-timers -- haunted, indeed. I doubt a single teenager has touched the steering wheel.  NP

Great for teaching a new driver about catastrophic body roll.

Such a reminder of how far behind GM was in the 90's. Compare to the same year Accord interior.

Definitely.

I have no idea if you are making a point here. I didn’t get past where you want to change the weather, as a way to fix the TOO MUCH CO2 IN THE ATMOSPHERE PROBLEM. And as indivuduals, we’ll be fine. We have AC. It’s the mass species extinciton that may be a problem at some point.
