It sounds kind of like it could be structured as a sequel with a set of flashbacks (and maybe a prologue) like LOTR Two Towers, but if it’s written by the people that made the original I’m not sure they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

This can be done succesfully though. Twin Peaks was more than a murder mystery, and Evangelion was more than a mech show. American Horror Story simply is what it is, and what it is is a hot mess.

The main problem I see is that no amount of lampshade hanging is going to stop most of the show from being Diet Superman. And having most of the show constantly harping on Superman Classic doesn’t help.
