Ford has an EV truck slated to release the same year as the Cybertruck. Why does Tesla get credit for that when Ford doesn’t? Only reason I can think of is because they are overhyping a terrible ‘blade runner’ truck. Ford owns part of Rivian, so I don’t really get your point on that one.

To be pedantic, they also have radar. However, it is useless against stationary vehicles at high speeds, as autopilot has repeatedly shown.

I agree. This is just endangering people to feed a billionaire’s ego.

You’re not old, you’re wise. This is the dumbest driver assist yet. Unless a car can drive itself with no need for human intervention, it’s pointless to keep adding these systems that endanger people.

Yup, without cruise control I’ll accidentally go like 90 mph on long distance drives. It definitely helps and since I am still steering I am paying attention.

Obviously he meant by the END of 2020! By then, autopilot will be good enough to slightly slow down before plowing into cop cars at 60+ mph.

“Are they not using infrared cameras to detect heat from living organisms and cars? Are they not programming in responses to stationary objects? Don’t the radar system scan far enough ahead in relation to the car’s speed to stop it in time?”

“the media is complicit in the endangerment through their incompetence.”

And a whole investigation into how this happened.

Also, Musk literally went on TV and demoed it without his hands on the wheel. They are sending mixed signals IMO.

But not everyone is using autopilot, so a terrible comparison. If autopilot were being used by everyone, I know a few roads that would just have paramedics stationed there, waiting for an accident.

And just like Aviation, people trust it too damn much and fall asleep. I’ve read way too many stories about pilots falling asleep because autopilot will handle the flight.

And yet, he keeps promising full self driving is right around the corner and that a Tesla will drive itself across the country to prove it. I’ve grown tired of his antics.

Telsa’s use radar and cameras, no LIDAR. If the computer can’t figure it out from the camera, it just can’t figure it out fast enough before a wreck.

People in the US whine about it, but people in Europe seem to love mass transit.

I’m not sure many in the US would be a sub 10k new car. People are actively obsessed with buying more car than they need. Which is why crossover and SUV sales have dramatically increased while cheaper sedans decrease. We’re at a point where single people with no kids are starting to default to buying a big SUV. Why? I

I really don’t get why automakers aren’t being pushed to make every ICE car a hybrid right now. Instead of pushing them to just make EVs. Of course this wouldn’t work for Ferrari, but Toyota can do it right now.

You mean like most truck drivers? The majority do no work in it, and probably use the bed like three times a year, if that.

Real people are talking! Not actors.

Lol literally any carmaker can make a smaller truck right now. There’s no barrier. People just generally like bigger trucks and stubbornly stick to the same brands. If they really wanted smaller trucks, there’d be proof in declining truck sales. Good news, VW is supposed to launch a smaller truck in the US, so maybe
