I got picked up by a Lyft driver in a Charger and I was embarrassed for the guy. It was such a terrible interior, it felt like riding in the back of a cop car from 1995.

The only thing a new Tesla release creates is another dumbfounding race to be the first one to post a video online for the likes and retweets. If it wasn’t for social media desperation would anyone even care about this feature? The video game is more real-world useful than a ‘Car comes to you (but only when you are clo

Just another article that makes we wonder how Jalopnik would be if only Tesla bought some ads.

If you pushed the button that makes your car drive itself, you are liable.

I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that those STOP signs in parking lots don’t really mean anything legally even if they are identical to the ones at an intersection.  But there are the expectations of other drivers in the mix. Doing what’s expected by all parties and all drivers thinking about what other drivers are

It might be worse in the sense that a lot of objects in parking lots are people and kids, not fire trucks, semi trucks, or concrete barriers.

In every one of these videos, the people would’ve been in the car in the time it takes it to do its thing.

Yes, and I’m betting it happens before Monday’s Morning Shift.

This “feature” is idiotic. If walking to your vehicle in even the largest of parking lots is so difficult you’d rather stand there and watch the vehicle come to your location than you clearly have a disability and thus have a reserved handicapped spot. If you’re too fucking fat and lazy to walk for two minutes then

I tried it yesterday and it didn’t go great. It backed out of the parking space fine, then stopped in the middle of the lane. The alert is showed said “advanced summon not allowed on public roads.” It was a parking lot and not a public road and why did it allow me to reverse out of the parking space? Anyway, I had to

I have a Model 3, and likely will get the update with Smart Summon pretty soon, but there is no way I would try what these people are doing with their cars.  I am astounded at Model 3 owners who put a shocking amount of faith in these immature systems. While they are impressive, they still have a long way to go, and

Oh, my.

He has to find _some_ joy in his life

It continues to astound me that incredibly immature technologies that simply don’t work are allowed to use us all as guinea pigs.

Now playing

Has anyone tested in a parking garage yet and see if it drives to your level?

Look! I’ve invented a new feature that sucks resources for litigation and complex software programming that nobody really wants! Cool!

I’ll preface this by saying that I don’t typically do auto. Mostly liability like product liability, slip and falls and other stuff like that.

These Tesla features exist only for people who want less responsibility for their actions, yet they require a new level of attentiveness and new skills. That’s horrifying and negligent.

Best use-case for this feature is if you’re boxed into a right parking spot via some other cars who got too close, or if your garage is small or overflowing with shit. The former happens often enough that this gets frequent use.
