You're saying the $5000 doesn't get applied to your payment once the vehicle arrives?

It seems as though you have a rather sophomoric understanding of economics. That, or you forgot to tell us you were joking. The way pure capitalism works, sir, is when the consumer has control. An unregulated market invites the seller to set a price as they wish, but must face the consequences of competition.

Confirmation bias is real.

Everyone I met who drove a PT Cruiser did so because they were underwater since the day they rolled off the lot.

This made me laugh pretty hard! Perfect comment.

Laughing at the stupid people is how a society advances.

Props for picking up on the screen name.

Very solid comment. Well done.

I once went to one of those places under similar circumstances. Kid chose “closed system” when he got to the part about grease points. He and the manager were visibly uncomfortable when I had to explain to them why this is untrue and that the 05 Sierra has 11 grease points.

There's a group of guys up near Seattle doing similar experiments. I could watch this flavor of hijinks all day long.

With the exception of that one hard-to-reach sparkplug, most regular maintenance is extremely simple as long as you have a 7mm, 10mm and 14mm wrench.

Which is why it's so interesting to see how many of these newer model owners don't really maintain those vehicles very well. The well-maintained older vehicle (not necessarily classic, custom or collectible) tells a much better story about the owner. The pendulum will swing back soon enough.

100k miles is still the cutoff for reliability? Of the 8 vehicles I’ve owned in my life, 8 of them have easily surpassed 200k; one of them touched 300k. 7 of them worked when I sold them (I'm still driving #8, which currently has 184k).

That last was the only correct way to end the article. #Pulitzer

You present a fine argument.

In all seriousness, Tesla owners tend to belong to a group that is rather health conscious. It doesn't seem like this would even be a feature they'd care about.

This is a perfectly crafted comment.

I'll be spending the next few days cruising around parking lots until I get that new bumper I've been wanting.

Spoiler alert, homie. Some of us haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Same reason why the mattress store is always having a sale; the buyer feels fortunate and will likely treat themselves to a more expensive option thanks to their "dumb luck" of being in the market at the exact same time as the sale.
