We shouldn’t be building a car that isn’t hybrid and has a plug. It’s just stupid.

Definite not the answer while you have kids in the car. Driving by myself, I can pop open the laptop and get some work done. But kids have timers built into them. Timers tied to meltdowns.
I think if you have the flexibility of taking the forester go with the bolt. But if you can’t rely on that flexibility, go with the volt.
You are missing the time component of road trip charging. You stop more often for longer than you would with gas. I can do ~13-14 hours in a day. That is about 800-900 miles. Charging adds about 1.5 hours to that. So instead of 800-900 miles you are doing 600-700.
I know there is a lot of disdain from EV owners especially for PHEVs because of the dual drivetrain, but they make a huge amount of sense. There are arguments about which is green, but set that aside. The real benefit is having the PHEV as the “first” car in any household. It can run on electric for most local…
Flip side of that, I can’t see it. I very much enjoyed and was willing to pay for new movies to be released direct to home. I’m a working dad. I have no time or capacity to go to a theater to see a movie I want to see.
I don’t know anyone who wants a car bodystyle any more.
Not this BS again. The ship doesn’t pencil as anything. It is too big to convert into a hotel or modernize. Too much to rehab.
Far more than that. This is a half billion dollar project.
Any well run and balanced city doesn’t need “passing trade.” In fact we have cities that create problems for their neighbors (and commuters) by focusing solely on office and commercial tax base and shifting the “costs” of residents to their neighbors.
I’m on a compounded version of the drug. I’m also obese and my insurance doesn’t cover it. I’ve already lost about 20 lbs in 2.5 months. I won’t lie it is a life changer.
I think all these companies and insurance companies are being absolute idiots about this. I’m truly inclined to believe that this is treating…
With electric cars hitting it in 3 seconds and 6 seconds is likely the same hardware.
I don’t think that properly addresses corporate leases or car allowances. Both of which are incredibly common. For example we give our construction guys $400 for car payment but they get no mileage. This encourages them to have a car payment.
If stellantis builds it? Yeah. But Toyota?
I think the assumption of a Prius being plugged in 50% of the time is way low. Every phev driver I know is probably closer to 90-95% battery only.
that you have to turn off your car at the gas pump.
backing into a space is also about maneuverability. You have more maneuverability to get straight into the space by backing in.
Actually, the more cluttered and clogged the area is, the slower people drive, which leads to greater survivability and fewer accidents. Your thinking in 1950's road design. If I can see more, have more room to move, then I can be safer and more confident when driving. Which is NOT what you want. You want drivers to…
That is an issue with street design.
This is the best answer to the “big truck crisis”. Vehicles that are either bought for a business, taxed as such, used as such, or over certain weight should require CDLs & relevant insurance. I’d even say that should apply to vans, and the top end of SUVs.
We’d see the demand for these vehicles drop significantly.
