I thought it was Jennifer Lawrence and Conan

“My pet dog Eva Braun”

The ladies who do these interviews shine their legs up with oil. I think this spoofs it. at 3:46, her leg LITERALLY sparkles and it made laugh until my stomach hurt.

I’m sure it is, dude. It looks like you like him a whole lot, though, so your time would be better utilized in seeking them out and circlejerking with the Corrections in the middle or whatever instead of lurking here and upsetting your poor wee heart.

I’ve read two of them, to my misfortune

I shouldn’t have put in the ‘just’ lol. Makes it sound like he wrote a book with just white male characters. It’s just a suggestion - and frankly, a better direction for him.

Full Disclosure : My mother and father are both half romani, so you can see why I’m a bit sensitive about that

I think 5 or 6, more like. The Romani are what - half irish? It asks questions about the universality of attraction. She has to describe their features in a way that the audience know that the characters look white, but they get to be ‘exotic’ as well. It feels insensitive to me because the Romani were and are

I went on a romance novel binge the other month, and quite a lot of them write good sex scenes! You should check them out. But that genre is extremely problematic. They use POC as springboards to romanticize the heros and heroines and piggyback on the ‘exoticness’ of POC. You should check them out sometime!

Lisa Kleypas does that thing where she makes piggybacks on the ‘exoticness’ of Romani characters to make her hero desirable. GROSS.

The worst ones are those who’re like “Oh you just didn’t get it.” No, strike that. The worst ones are those who compare it to DICKENS.

Did you read The Line of Beauty. That’s some hot stuff yo.

Uh Alan Hollinghurst

LOL my best friend’s name is Lalli (she’s Indian too) and this book literally gave her conniptions. Franzen should just stick to writing a book full of white, male characters.

I hate Franzen, and I loathed that book, but I too am curious about what brought this on. Isn’t this book old news?

She has explicitly stated that she doesn’t identify as a black woman though
